A member of Mr. William Roberts’ World Cultures Class and Dr. William Price's Academically Gifted Class, Peter received his first place honors for his individual project entitled, ‘The Effects of the Crusades on Western World Civilization.’' Peter will represent District 5 at the state competition to be held on the main campus of the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, on May 15 and 16. On History Day, student grades 6 through 12 submit entries, as a culmination of a series of activities, into contests in which they are judged by historians, educators and other experienced professionals in related fields. Swoyersville Democrats The Dallas Wrestling Club recently honored the Junior and Senior High wrestlers of Dallas High School at its annual dinner held at Elk’s Lodge in Wilkes-Barre. Principal speaker was Craig Rome, Wilkes College outstanding fresh- man wrestler. Don Cooper served as toastmaster. Special awards were presented to wrestlers of the junior and senior high teams. The following received them: Senior High, most team points, Billy Mathers; most near falls, Billy Mathers; most take- downs, Billy Mathers; most pins, Billy Mathers; fastest pin, Paul Burke; most improved, Bryon Mathers. Award also went to Billy Mathers, District II Third Place. Jackets were also presented to the seniors Joe Patts, John Graham, Mark Rogers, and Dave Hislop. The more shocking statistic, Murphy says, is that children ages 14 and under are killed in 42 percent of all fatal bicycle accidents.
