Bishop of the Diocese of Scranton,
of King’s College to be held at 2
p.m. Sunday, May 19, in the William
S. Scandlon Physical Education

The Trinity Nursery School,
located in Trinity United Presbyter-
ian Church, Dallas, is now accept-
ing registration for the 1985-86
school year.
The school will open its doors for
the 15th year in September with
programs in early childhood educa-

Recent activities at the Nursery
School include an eye screening,
hearing screening, a visit from the
Dallas Fire Company, a visit from
two registered nurses, a visit from
Chief of Police Carl Miers and a
visit from Mrs. Scott, a nutritionist.
Open House will be held at Trinity
Nursery School on May 13. Informa-
tion concerning registration may be
obtained by calling the church office
at 675-3131.
Bishop Timlin will also deliver the
homily at the Baccalaureate Mass
to be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May
18 in the Scandlon Physical Educa-
tion Center.
Born in Scranton, Bishop Timlin
graduate from Holy Rosary High
School in North Scranton and
attended St. Charles College,
Catonsville, Md., and St. Mary’s
Seminary, Baltimore, Md., before
completing his studies for the pri-
esthood at North American College,
Rome, Italy.
Ordained into the priesthood in
1951 by the Most Rev. Martin J.
O’Connor, then rector of the North
American Church, Bishop Timlin
served as assistant pastor of St.
John the Evangelist Parish, Pittston
and St. Peter’s Cathedral, Scranton,
before being named assistant chan-
cellor of the diocese and secretary
to Most Rev. J. Carroll McCormick,
D.D., sixth Bishop of Scranton, in
1966.
Bishop Timlin was appointed
Champlain to Pope Paul VI in 1967,
became Chancellor o the diocese in
1971 and was named a Prelate of
Honor of the Pope in 1972.
He was named Auxiliary Bishop
and became Vicar General of the
Diocese of Scranton in 1976, was
named pastor of the Church of the
Nativity of our Lord in 1979, and
became the eighth Bishop of the
Scranton Diocese in 1984.
Bishop Timlin has served on the
Consultative Committee on Voca-
tions, chairman of the Diocesan
Liturgical Commission, as a
member of the Board of Consultors,
chairman of St. Pius X Seminary
and chairman of the Preparatory
Commissions for the Diocesan
Synod in 1983.
Main speaker at the Commence-
ment exercises will be Mary Alice
Williams, vice president of Cable
News Network. The ceremonies, at
which more than 400 students will
receive degrees, will begin at 2 p.m.

selected as a State Finalist for 1985
America’s Little Miss Pageant, to
be held at the Holiday Inn, Essing-
ton, Pa., April 27.
Contestants will be judged on
beauty, smile, eye contact, poise,
personality, attire and talent. The
winner will go on to the national
competition to be held in Kentucky.
Heather’s sponsors include the
following Back Mountain busi-
nesses: Martha’s Bridals; Mary
Taylor’s Beauty Salon; Gino’s Shoe
Store and Bruce Goeringer, D.D.S.
Mr. B’s Clothing Store has donated
the sportswear ensemble.
Heather is a student at Dallas
Twp. School, where she is in the
third grade. She is a member of
Brownie Troop 650, and her hobbies
include ice skating, rollerskating,
craft-making, modeling and photog-
raphy.
She has a sister, Laura, who is
three years old. She is the grand-
