Misericordia opened its 1985 base-
ball seson with a doubleheader with
Bloomsburg University at home on
March 23.
The Highlanders, under the direc-
tion of third year coach Dennis
Fisher, will play a 19 game sched-
uled including seven doubleheaders.
This year, home games wil lbe
played on campus. The 1985 sched-
ule is as follows:
March 26--King’s (DG), 1 p.m.
March 30--at Spring Garden (DH), 1
p.m.
April 1--Penn State-Dunmore, 3 p.m.
April 8-Penn St. Wilkes-Barre, 4
p.m.
April 13--at Drew (DH), 1 p.m.
April 16--Eastern, 3 p.m.
April 21-at Penn St. Capitol (DH),

team will open the 1985 season at
Marywood on March 26 at 3 p.m.
Under the direction of new head
coach Kathy Conradt, the Highlan-
ders will play an 18 game schedule
including eight doubleheaders. The
1985 schedule is as follows:
March 30--Mansfield (DH), 1 p.m,
April 10-at Lock Haven (DH), 3
am.
April 14--at Kueka (DH), 1 p.m.
April 16-at Alvernia (DH), 2 p.m.
April 20--Lackawanna Junior Col-
lege (DH), 12 p.m.
April 21--LCCC, 2 p.m.
April 24--Penn State-Hazleton (DH),
2 p.m.
April 27-King’s (DH), 1 p.m. |

The Pintos shut out the Citations
in the Idetown Compact League led
by M. Chopko’s 530 and R. Cross’s
510. Firebirds blanked Aries
sparked by H. Evans 529 while the
Camaros picked up three points
from LaBarons paced by J. Berti’s
216 (595). Capris took three from the
Corvettes with none of the bowlers
able to hit high scores.
In the Back Mountain Church
League Trucksville C took all from
Shavertown A aided by J. Reming-
ton’s 537. Trucksville B took four
poitns from Carverton A led by S.
Hoover’s 546 and G. Kohli’s 530.
Orange copped three points from
East Dallas aided by C. Cyphers 529
and J. Mitchell’s 518. The losing five
had J. Cobleigh’s 522. Shavertown B
took three points from Carverton B
with C. Kazokas hitting pins for 254
(600) and D. Wright knocking them
down for 216 (589). S. Fielding
contributed 514. Glen Mazer scat-
tered thepins for 240 (556) to help
Maple Grove split 2-2 with Dallas A.
Sue Tereska tumbled pins for 179
(482) to lead Nobody’s in shutting
out the A Team in Bonomo’s Mixed
League. Ghost Busters Jack Sand-
strom toppled pins for 213 and the
Halfbreeds Nancy Ide rolled 179 as
the two teams divided evenly.
In Our Gang League Michele
Grossman hit the pins for 191 to set
the pace for Spanky’s three points
from Wheezer whose Dave Jenkins
posted 516. Elmer Lamoreaux’s 519
was high for Darla who dropped
three to Porky whose high bowler
was Marie Carkhuff with 207 (496).
Waldo took three from Buckwheat
with no one able to hit high scores
on either team. Stymie and Alfalfa
divided 2-2. Nancy Daney posted 170
(471) for Alfalfa.

the Bowlerette League and Hoagie
Bar took four points from Tom
Reese aided by Nancy Crane’s 176
(475).
F. Adams hit pins for 562 and S.
Bonomo rolled 224 (516) but it
wasn’t enough to keep Beach Com-
bers from shutting out the Hambos
in Bonomo’s Major League. J. Roan
scattered the pins for 233 (581). D.
Thomas spilled them for 559 and R.
Bonomo rolled 542 to lead Brown’s
Oil to three points from the Bermu-
das whose high man was J. Pearson
with 515. G.H. Harris picked up
three from Charlies All stars led by
C. Kazokas who walloped pins for
225 (606) and T. Doughton who hit
them for 542. D. Purvin added 531
and A. Wendel gave 521. Glen Mazer
hammered the pins for 223-220 (610)
for Sweet Valley Outfitters but it
wasn’t enough as Back Mt. Sporting
Goods grabbed three points from
them paced by H. Garris’ 232 (581).
The Sweet Valley men also had R.
Bonomo Jr.’s 533.
In the Imperialette League L.
Bolton rolled 186-178 (481) and L.
Johnson added 193 (476) to lead
Hoof ’N Paw to blanking Scavone
Motors who was topped by K. Sca-
vone’s 173 (479) and L. Macieczak’s
175. Mahaffey Oil took all from
Humphrey’s Apparel with bowlers
on both teams having trouble find-
ing the strike zone. Jean Shop
picked up three poitns from Lom-
bardo’s Bakery with H. Dickinson’s
463 high for both teams.
In the George Shupp League
Fino’s Pharmacy shut out Katyl TV
Paced by T. Shalata who hammered
pins for 245-255-232 (732). R.
Bonomo rolled 588 and F. Adams hit
551. Harris Associates took three
points from Gino’s Shoe Store paced
by A. Wendel’s 230 (574), S.
Bonomo’s 210 (574) and D. Purvin’s
537. C. Kazokas posted 562 and R.
Daubert recorded 222 (545) for the
shoe dealer. Steele’s Restaurant and |
SCID divided evenly with Callaghan
hitting 537 for SCID. |
Grotto Pizza dropped Fashion
Vending down in the standings in
Ladies Country League by taking all
from them. R. Radzinski paced the
pizza team with 171 (476) and D.
Garnett added 175. Harris Asso-
ciates shut out Gordon Insurance
led by J. Lamoreaux’s 173. F. Alla-
baugh hit 170 for Gordon's. Cas-
tlettes copped three points from
Bonomo’s Sports Center aided by J.
Mekeel’s 198 (520) and R. Carroll’s
171 (483). K. Scavone rolled 201
(477), L. Maciejczak hit 195 and N.
Ide knocked down pins for 179 for
the sports center team.
