The tournament will be open to
100 players at a fee of $30.00. The
_ fee covers the greens fee, cost of a
gold cart and dinner. The chairmen
and their committee members will
raise ‘the largest sum of money
from sponsors, who will buy adver-
tising on the putting green, tee or
hole. The Calloway system of scor-
ing will be used and 30 prizes will be
awarded. Among these will be first,
second and third prizes for the low

for low net; shortest drive, longest
drive and closest to the pin. Prizes
will be awarded within each flight.
There will be no door-to-door fun-
draising done by the students. The
chairpersons of the trip emphasized
that most of the work will be done
by parents and volunteers.
. “It will be a wonderful trip for the
boys,” said Coach McCafferty. “Not
only will it be very educational and
give them an opportunity to take
part in an entirely different way of
living but it will also give them a
chance to play a few games in
Scotland. How many will be deter-
mined what the varsity schedule
"will be that year since the P.I.A.A.
designates the number of exhibition
or scrimmage matches that can be
. played.”
The boys will fly direct to Glas-
gow and with the 17 adults stay at
Birkbeck Court, part of the univer-
sity residential complex of the stu-

dent village in Glasgow at the Uni-
versity of Strathclyde. Boys and
adults will stay in six-bedroom flats
where they can prepare their own
meals, if desired. If they prefer,
meals are available on the campus
in a cafeteria ner the building
where they will be staying.
“The parents and other members
of their families ‘are involved in the
plans and are working enthusiasti-
cally in order to make this trip
possible,” said Carole Morris. “If
they can’t make a meeting, they
call and ask what they can do to
help. We hope that the Scotland trip
will be only the first of such exciting
an educational events for the team
members in the future.”
If John McCafferty has anything
to do with it, there will be plenty of
opportunities for the players on
future teams. He believes in taking
advantage of any opportunity possi-
ble to help broaden the education of
young people, academically and
physically.

The Back Mountain Wrestling
Club recently held a special ‘Team
Tournament” and family fun night
at the Dallas Elementary School.
Each boy wrestled an exhibition
bout with a teammate and the Back
Mountain Wrestling Club cheerlead-
ers provided the crowd with enthu-
siastic cheers throughout the eve-
ning.
The purpose of the evening was to
present each wrestler and cheer-
for all their hard work through the
very successful dual meet season.
The club went 4-1 in the Northern
Division of the Penn Elementary
League, with their only loss being a
close decision to the Wilkes-Barre
YMCA. The club also received a 4th
place trophy for their performance
at the Penn Elementary League
Tournament in Lewistown. .
A special thank you goes to Mr.
Joe Stager and the Back Mountain
Jaycees as well as Mr. Joe O’Don-
nell and the entire Dallas School
Board for their help in securing the
school facilities. The use of the
school allowed the club to give 60
young wrestlers and 13 young cheer-
leaders, ranging in age from 5 to 12
years old, a very memorable expe-
rience with’ their teammates and
entire families.
