New pastor
Dale S. Brown has accepted the position of Pastor of the
Community Church of Dallas. He began serving in that
ministry. on December 2, 1984. Both Pastor Brown and his
wife, Paula are originally from Dayton, Ohio. Pastor Brown
took his schooling at the University of Cincinnati, Cedarville
College from which he holds a B.A., and Grace Theological
Seminary, Winona Lake, Indiana, from which he holds a
Master of Divinity degree. This is the first full-time pastorate
for the Browns. They have one son, David, five years old.
Community Church of Dallas, an independent, fundamental,
Bible-centered church, is located on Memorial Highway
north of Dallas. The church had its beginning when a group
of believers began meeting together in 1966, and after
erecting a building, moved to the present location in 1970.
Regular services include Sunday School at 9:45 a.m.,
Sunday morning and evening worship services at 11 a.m.
and 6 p.m. and Wednesday prayer service at 7 p.m.
STAFF SGT. MICHAEL E. STEINHAUER, son of
Edward L. and Madelon Steinhauer of 193A Lewis
Ave., Harveys Lake, has graduated from the Air
Force non-commissioned officer leadership school at
Minot Air Force Base, N.D.
The sergeant studied techniques of leadership,
management and supervision.
Steinhauer is a disaster preparedness technician
with the 91st Combat Support Group at Minot.
He is a 1973 graduate of Neshaming Senior High
School, Langehorne, Pa.

STAFF SGT. WESLEY R. TRAVER, son of Cecil J.
and Sandra J. Traver, of RD 1, Sweet Valley, has been
named outstanding non-commissioned officer of the
quarter for the 20th Transportation Squadron at RAF
Upper Heyford, England.
The competition was based on job knowledge,
significant self-improvement, leadership qualities,
ability to be an articulate and positive spokesman for
the Air Force and other accomplishments.
Traver, a vehicle operations supervisor, is a 1976
graduate of Lake-Lehman High School, Lehman.

NANCY L. EVANS, of Poplar Street, Dallas is a
member of the Elizabethtown College Concert Choir
and will be appearing with the choir when it makes a
series of off campus appearances including a six-day
tour through Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia.
The 32-voice choir is under the direction of Harry L.
Simmers, associate professor of music at Elizabeth-
town. The choir will present a program of selections
from the classics, hymns, folk, and popular and
patriotic music.
Ms. Evans, a sophomore, music education major, is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Evans.

MARK BOYLE, of Dallas, is one of 21 Lycoming
College students participating in the college’s student
teaching program this semester.
Boyle is a senior English major. He is observing and
teaching at Four Mile School in Williamsport.
Boyle is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Joseph Boyle,
RD 1, Briarcrest Road, Dallas.
Lycoming is an independent, coeducational college

and contemporary majors and 11 cooperative and pre-
professional programs.
KELLY DAVIS, of Harveys Lake, was among
Admissions Test and admitted to law schools.
Davis will be attending Dusquesne University.

FIFTY-EIGHT STUDENTS at Penn State-Wilkes-
Barre have been named to the Dean’s List for the
fall1984 term, according to an announced by Dr. David
Rice, director for academic affairs.
To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must
carry a full course load and attain a grade point
average of 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0.

JOHN FIELDING, Sutton Road, Jackson Twp. has
returned home from Nesbitt Memorial Hospital where
he was a medical patient.

MR. AND MRS. WILLARD WRIGHT, SR., of Chase
Road, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wright, Chase Road, and
Mr. Willard Wright, Jr., Dallas, recently attended the
funeral of the Wright’s sister-in-law and aunt, Mrs.
Robert (Eleanor) Wright of Wyckoff, New Jersey.
Mrs. Robert Wright was a well known organist. For
many years she was the organist in the Presbyterian
Church, Forty Fort and also at the Shavertown U.M.
Church. Mrs. Wright was a member of the Organist
Guild of W.B.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wright were former residents
of Kingston. Presently she was a member of the Grace
Methodist Church of Wyckoff, N.J. She was president
of the Organist Guild there.

DR. LOUIS BONITA ELECTED DIRECTOR OF
FAMILY PRACTICE DEPARTMENT
At the February meeting of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Department of Family
Practice, Louis B. Bonita, M.D., F.A.A.F.P., was unanimously elected as the new direc-
tor for the three-year period, 1985-1988. As director of the Department, he is respon-
sible for both educational program development and administrative policy, in addition
to coordinating all other departmental policies.

Dr. Bonita is a summa cum laude graduate of West Pittston High School and a mag-
na cum laude graduate of Wilkes College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in
Physics. He is a 1974 honor graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine, New
Orleans, LA, and completed his post graduate training in Medicine and Pediatrics at
Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Dr. Bonita is a member of the Luzerne County Medical Society, the Pennsylvania
Medical Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is a Di-
plomate of the American Board of Family Practice and a recipient of the American
Medical Association's Physician Recognition Award for Continuing Medical Education.
He is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and in 1978 was award-
ed Fellowship status in the Academy at its convocation ceremonies in San Francisco,
CA.
Dr. Bonita is Board Certified in the field of Family Practice and is affiliated with the
staffs of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Nesbitt Memorial Hospital and the NPW
Medical Center. He is also an associate staff professor of the Hahnemann Medical Col-
lege, Philadelphia, PA.
