Dr. Stefon gets grant Dr. Frederick J. Stefon, assistant professor of history at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, has been awarded a grant from the Franklin D. Roose- velt Four Freedoms Foundation to aid him in research activities at The Franklin D. Roosevelt Library, Hyde Park, New York. At the Roosevelt Library, Dr. Stefon will investigate the memos, letters notes and journal entries of Harold Ickes, John Collier, Harry Hopkins, Eleanor Roosevelt and -other working with F.D.R. on fed- eral Indian policy during the New Deal years. Dr. Stefon has been researching this area for some years. His doc- toral dissertation, completed at Penn State University in 1983, examined “Native American Edu- cation and the New Deal’. In addition to his teaching and research activities, Dr. Stefon has been active in many campus com- mittees and projects since he joined the faculty in 1970. DR. FREDERICK J. STEFON Robert L. Brown, M.D., F.A.C.P., and Peter F. Casterline, M.D., F.A.C.S. were recently elected directors of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital’s Departments of Medicine and Surgery, respectively. Dr. Brown, a 1968 magna cum laude graduate of Wilkes College, received his medical degree in 1972 from the Milton S. Hershey Medical School of the Pennsylvania State University. He served his medical internship and residency in internal medicine at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence Rhode Island, and then served a fellowship in infectious diseases at Roger William General Hospital and the Brown University Program of Medicine in Providence. Besides serving his second term as Wilkes-Barre General Hospital's director of the Department of Medi- cine, Dr. Brown is also the hospi- tal’s director of Medical Education and chief of the hospital's division of Infectious Diseases.
