The New Community Singers held
a recognition dinner at the Castle
.Inn, Feb. 1, honoring Mrs. Diane
_ Wojciechowski, director and Mrs.
Emily Steltz, accompanist for the
-chorus for the past 15 years.
- A short meeting was held recog-
. nizing the officers for their service
for the past two years: Catherine
“Bernardi, President; Kay Sigman,
: Vice-president; Ruth Ann Orehot-
sky, Secretary; Janet Trosko, Trea-
surer; Mary Lauer, Publicity; Doris
Kitchen, Parliamentarian. A new
slate of officers were elected for a
two-year term as follows: Marianne
. Williams, President; Carolyn Strak,
Vice-president; Sharon Drasnin,
Secretary; Susan Stine, Treasurer;
Ruth Ann Orewhotsky, Publicity;
Sister Ruth Neely, Librarian and
Joyce Sweptston, Parliamentarian.
, The chorus was organized to pro-
vide cultural enrichment through
~music for church, civic and social
functions in our area. Membership
.in the chorus is open to all women
interested in performing for musical
.enjoyment. This past Christmas
season the chorus membership grew
»to a beautiful blend of 34 voices.

Lions Club
has meeting
The Lake Silkworth Lions Club
hosted a four club joint meeting at
The Farmer’s Inn on Monday, Feb.
18. In attendance, in addition to the
Lake Silkworth Lions were Lions
from the Dallas Club, the Kingston
Township Club, and Harveys Lake
Club. A very lovely and enjoyable
evening was had by all.
Stanley Wojciechowski of the
Lake Silkworth Club led the singing.
The Silkworth president, Wayne
Pettit, welcomed the Lions from the
other clubs. The presidents of each
of the clubs held a brief business
meeting.
The speaker for the evening was

the Lake Silkworth Lions Club, who

paper, he decided he could cook, too. The love of cooking
runs in the Gordon family which also consists of husband
Charlie, a Nationwide Insurance Agent in the Back
Mountain, and daughter Terri, a student at Luzerne County
Community College.

elects
Michael J. Hudacek, Esq., Plym-
outh was re-elected chairman of
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital's
Board of Directors during the
board’s annual reorganizational
meeting. This marks Attorney
Hudacek’s second term as board
chairman.
Alfred D’Anca, M.D., Shavertown,
was newly elected as medical staff
representative to the board.
Richard F. Laux, Dallas, was re-
elected first vice-chairman, and
Father Clement J. Podskoch,
C.S.C., Wilkes-Barre, was re-elected
second vice-chairman. Others re-
elected to offices include Mrs.
Trudy Schmitt, Wilkes-Barre, secre-
tary; George F. Ralston, Wilkes-
Barre, assistant secretary; Roberta
Rousseau, Esq., Kingston, assistant
secretary; Robert J. Leonardi,
Kingston, treasurer; Justin Berg-
man, Wilkes-Barre, assistant trea-
surer; Thomas J. Dougherty, Kings-
ton, assistant treasurer. Thomas P.
Saxton, Kingston is hospital presi-
dent.
Attorney Hudacek is solicitor for
the Wyoming Valley West School
District and a graduate of King’s
College and Dickinson School of
Law. He is a board member of
Northeastern Bank and the Advis-
ory Board of Penn State, Lehman
Army and the Plymouth Park Com-
mission and has been instrumental
in activities of the Northeastern
charitable fund drives. He was also
prothonotary of Luzerne County.
A life-long resident of Plymouth,
Attorney Hudacek has been
involved in borough activities for a
number of years and has chaired
fund drives for the Plymouth
Library and the borough ambul-
family has received widespread rec-
ognition for advancing the idea of
decorating homes for various holi-
days. His wife, Sylvia, is an active
member of the hospital’s Auxiliary
and volunteers. Their son, Michael
Jr., a student of Georgetown Uni-
versity Medical School, was aiso an
active volunteer for several years.
Dr. D’Anca, chief of Orthopedic
Surgery at General Hospital since
1979, received his medical degree
from the University of Amsterdam,
The Netherlands. He completed his
residency in Orthopedic Surgery at
Geisinger Medical Center and at the
State Hospital for Crippled Children
in Elizabethtown. D’Anca received
board certification from the Ameri-
can Board of Orthopedic Surgery
and was chairman of General Hos-
pital’s Department of Surgery from
1981-1984.
D’Anca has published numerous
articles on bone and joint surgery in
medical journals and has also
appeared on local television health
programs. Most recently, he was a
guest speaker at the 10th Interna-
tional Conference on Hoffman,
External Fixation in Brussels, Bel-
gium.
