Relaxing at dinner
Tony and Shirley Jane Popple traveled from West Pittston to
enjoy a quiet, relaxing dinner at Pickett's Charge Restau-
rant, Dallas.
Pickett's Charge
has a meal for you
By JOAN KINGSBURY
Staff Correspondent
Whether you are yearning for a delicious breakfast, quick lunch or
a sumptious dinner, Pickett’s Charge, Memorial Highway, Dallas has
a meal to please you.
Owned and operated by Tom and Annette Pickett, Pickett’s Charge
has been serving the area for the past six years. In addition to Tom,
chefs Tony Hoyson and Scott Crispell prepare the gourmet meals that
make Pickett’s famous.
Decorated in a Civil War Theme using antique guns and pictures of
that period to set the mood, Pickett’s Charge offers a variety of
gourmet meals like Seafood Francoise, and Veal Pickett’s. A
succulent dish, Seafood Francoise combines scallops, shrimp and sole
in a wine and lemon sauce. Veal Pickett’s is a combination of various
spices and prosciutto ham. Prime Rib every Saturday night and
Lobster every Friday night are available at the low price of $8.95.
Desserts, an important part of the meal for many patrons, also take
on a special flare at Pickett’s Charge. French Fried Ice Cream, ice
cream dipped in a nut batter, deep fried for a minute, garnished with
whipped cream and a cherry, is the dessert specialty of the house.
Pickett’s Charge offers specials for both breakfast and lunch. Their
breakfast special of two eggs, bacon, homefries, and toast for $1.39 is
available starting at 7 a.m. Tom keeps lunch specials low, around $2
so that thos eating out daily can enjoy a reasonably priced lunch.
Pickett’s Charge also has a bar, where your favorite drinks can be
mixed up in a jiffy.
Tom feels he has learned a lot in the last six years about what
patrons like, and is sure he serves the best food in Wyoming Valley.
In fact, he guarantees that if a patron eats a certain dish, for
example, Shrimp Scampi, at Pickett’s Charge, and thinks another
restaurant where they have eaten makes it better, Tom will not
