At a recent meeting of the Junior
League of Wilkes-Barre, Inc., the
membership approved and allocated
major grant funding to three area
agencies.
The League’s Community
Research committee, chaired by
Mrs. Robert Kotsull, reviewed over
20 proposals submitted by commu-
nity service organizations. The com-
mittee selected three which met the
necessary criteria needed for fund-
ing: the Youth Services Commis-
sion, Maternal and Family Services,
and the Victims Resource Center.
Maternal and Family Services
received funding to update the
agency’s most often-used Tel-Med
tapes and increase the program’s
accessibility and service to the
greater Wyoming Valley. Tel-Med,
a medical information program,
was initiated by the League in 1974
and is endorsed by the County
Medical Society.
A grant allocated to the Youth
Service Commission will help to
provide materials and training rela-
tive to the Commission’s teenage
