Olympics set Shawnee Mountain and Shawnee Village have been chose as the site for the 1985 Pennsylvania Special Olympics Winter Games. The resort, located in the Pocono Mountains has hosted the games for 7 years and is pleased the event is returning for the 8th year on March 5-8. The games are held for special athletes who participate in skiing and ice skating including events such as slalom, giant slalom, cross-country skiing, figure skating. A gala Opening Ceremonies Celebration is scheduled for the evening of March 5 at Shawnee Mountain, to include a torchlight parade down the mountain, ceremonial lighting of the Olympic torch and spectac- ular fireworks display.
