Pvt. Richard J. Gouger, son of
Richard J. and Jane M. Gouger of
138 E. Ridge St., Shavertown, has
completed the image interpreter
course at the U.S. Army Intellig-
ence Center and School, Fort
Huachuca, Ariz.
The course trained enlissted per-
sonnel in the techniques and metho-
dology of imagery interpretation
and reporting, aerial surveillance
organization, capabilities and limi-
tation, maintenance and phtogram-
metry. The course also provides
studetns with a general knowledge
of the organizations and the rela-
tionship of those agencies to image
interpretation.
Gouger is scheduled to serve with
the 17th Military Intelligence Com-
pany at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C.
He is a 1984 graduate of Lake
Lehman High School.

A native of Plymouth and 1974
graduate of Wyomimg Valley West
High School, Beberus joined the
Personnel Department of PG&W in
1981 as an employee relations techn-
ician. He holds a B.S. in Business
Administration and an M.B.A. in
business administration with con-
centrations in labor relations and
finance from Wilkes College.
John Beberus currently serves as
treasurer of the Tri-County Person-
nel Association and is a member of
the American Institute of M.B.A.
Executives. He resides in Dallas
with his wife, the former Rose
Marie Baul of Kingston, and son
John.
MARK A. ROSING, 15 Glendal-
ough Road, Dallas, has been named
to the Dean’s List for the fall
semester at Cornell University, Col-
lege of Engineering in Ithaca, New
York.
Rosing is a 1984 graduate of
Dallas High School where he was
Valedictorian and Editor of the
Yearbook. He is the son of Judith
and Thomas Rosing.

If you have been yearning for a
little bit of culture mark Feb. 14, 15
and 16 on your calendar. On those
dates Penn State’s Arts at Hayfield
will present three Chekhov come-
dies. The Marriage Proposal will
feature Candyce Fike, Eugene
Sirnin and Richard Fuller; The
Boor will feature Walter Kelly, Mar-
cella Sedor Kelly and Eugene Sirini.
Walter Kelly will take the lead in
On The Harmfulness of Tabacco.
All three plays will be presented
each evening. Walter Kelly, a grad-
uate of Distinction of the American
Academy of Dramatic Arts in New
york City will direct the plays.
Tickets for this unique entertain-
ment are available from the Univer-
sity Relations Office of Penn State.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence J. Lav-
elle, Shaverfown are thrilled over
the birth of their son Scott Adam
November 30. This is the Lavelle’s
first child.
Mrs. Lavelle is the former Betty
Ellen Mintzer, Noxen daughter of
kathy Mintzer, Noxen and Lee
Mintzer, Dallas.
Scott’s paternal grandparents are
Mrs. Mildred Wheeler, Dallas and
the late Eugene Lavelle.
Back Mountain Kiwanis Club
recently became the 23rd member
of the Northeast Pennsylvania
Advocated for the Mentally
Retarded, Inc. by supporting its
work on behalf of retarded citizens
and their families. I think its great
that the Back Mountain kiwanis had
become affiliated with this organi-
zation since 1 think Mentally
Retarded people really deserve to
live as normal and happy a life as
possible. It is up to we fellow
members of society to support the
well-being of the mentally retarded.
A 14-day trip to London, Geneva,
paris and Rome sounds wonderful,
doesn’t it? The Music Department
of College Misericordia will sponsor
this tour from June 30 to July 15.
The trip will include visiting
museums, attending concerts and,
of course, lots of sightseeing.
Sister Mary Carmel McGarigle is
tour director. For further informa-
tion and reservations contact Sister
Carmel; reservations are required
by March 1.
Mr. and Mrs. John Maskalis, Sr. of
Dallas have announced the engage-
ment of their daughter, Ruth Renee
to Richard Harold Casterline of
Wyoming son of Mr. and Mrs. Rich-
ard Eugene Casterline.
Miss Maskalis is employed by the
U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services. Mr. Casterline is

Mrs. Menzel, the former Barbara
Ann Burkhardt is a graduate of
Dallas Area High School, Wilkes
Barre Vocational-Technical School
of Practical Nursing and Luzerne
County Community College. She is
employed as a registered nurse at
the Veterans Administration Medi-
cal Center, Wilkes Barre.
Mr. Menzel is a graduate of
