Although we have chosen to allow the judges to remain anonymous, following is an eyewit- ness account of what those judges saw.) i As one of the judges in The Dallas Post Holiday Decorating Contest, I thought I would like to share with the readers what turned out to be a pleasant experience for me. Like most people, I am usually too busy at this time of the year to take time for a drive through the Back Mountain to see the lights in each community. However, this vear I had to make time to judge the entrants in the contest. I covered the Back Mountain area from Dallas to Harveys Lake, travelling through Nexen, Orange, Shavertown and Trooksville. 1 travelled on many roads, searching for the entrants in our Holiday Decorating Contest. The search was made even more pleasant by the homes other than the contest entrants that were also decorated. I was only too sorry some of these homes had not entered our contest, also. The Newell home, our winning entry, turned out to be my favorite in the lighted category.
