Dallas Mountaineers crushed
Mountain View 48-16 and Lake-
Lehman Knights whipped Hughes-
ville 45-12 in their opening exhibition
wrestling meets last Saturday.
The Mountaineers used. four pins
.and three forfeits in picking up their
opening match. Young 98-1b. Brian
Mathers gave the team six points on
a forfeit and 105-1b. Truyen Huynh,
native of Vietnam, wrestling for the
rst time took a 9-8 bout from
ountain View’s Jamie Shea to
move the Mountaineers in front 9-0.
The Mountaineers took the next
three bouts with pins to move ahead
27-0. Paul Burke turned over 112-lb.
Matt Mauro in 27 seconds, Bill
Mathers flattened 119-1b. Rob
Taylor in 1:58 and 126-1b. Mountai-
neer Mark Rogers clamped Rick
Higgins in ep;20.
Mountain View came within strik-
ing distance in the next three bouts
when their 132-lb. Dave Orlando
pinned Brian Maseychick in 2:29
and 138-Ib. Todd Homet clamped
Matt Conologue in the same time.
145-1b. Mike Ofalt took an 11-6 deci-
sion from Dallas’ Dave Hislop.
Mount Joe Patts put an end to
Mountain View’s win streak by flat-
tening 155-1. Rob Haggenbuch in
2:39. Corry Lingas gave Dallas a 9-2
win over 167 Ib. Bill Kostick.
Coach Larry Schuler’s Mountai-
neers took the 185-1b. bout and the
heavyweight bout by forfeits with
heavyweight.
The Mountaineers will meet
Valley View, away, Wednesday,
Dec. 19, with the varsity match at
7:30 p.m.
The Black Knights used three pins
in winning their meet with Hughes-
ville.
They got off to a fast start with
98-1b. Matt Reinert pinning Kurt
Saltsgiver in 4;24, 105-1b. Jeff Austin
turning over Mike Hutson in 1:08 for
a 12-0 lead.
Hughesville came within three
points when their 112 lb. Mike
Campbell decisioned Dave Guizen-
ski 8-2 and 119-lb. Mike Charles
flattened John Mahalick in 2:18.
126-1b. Joe Smith turned the tables
when he outwrestled Hughesville’s
Jeff Strassner, 14-4, followed by his
teammate Bob Guzenski’s 11-8 deci-
sion over 132-1b. J.C. Miller. 138-lb.
Norman Clancy tok a 14-4 bout from
Hughesville’s Robbie Poust and 145-
Ib. Mark Yaple clamped Kevin Hou-
senecht of Hughesville in 5:25.
Knight Don Spencer gave Lake-
Lehman six points on a default by
Shawn Stackhouse.
167-Ib. Tony Nise picked up the
last win for Hughesville when he
took a high scoring 13-11 bout from
Bill George.
Ed Strafford and Chris Van
Gorder won their bouts easily with
185-1b. Strafford taking Todd
Keppner 17-4 and Van Gorder
defeating Tim Paternosko 15-2.
The Knights will meet Danville
away, Thursday, Dec. 20.
In the Imperialette League B.
Roan’s 175 paced Scavone Motors to
shutting out the Hoof N Paw girls
while Lombardo Bakery took three
from the Jean Shop despite D.
Garnett rolling 171 (480). Mahaffey
Oil took three points from Hum-
phrey’s Apparel with no one able to
hit high scores.
Charlies All Stars picked up three
from G.H. Harris in Bonomo’s
Major League led by C. Williams
who hammered the pins for 241-226
(623). K. Spencer rolled 210 (560), F.
Cornell hit 550, K. Orkwis posted 524
and B. Cyphers add 520. A. Wendel
walloped the pins for 242 (600) for
the Harris team and T. Doughton
gave 558. C. Kazokas contributed
551 and D. Purvin rolled 517. J.
Roan’s 588 and R. Bonomo’s similar
series led Brown’s Oil to taking four
from the Bermudas. D. Thomas
contributed 521. Hambos shut out
the Beach Combers paced by R.
Bennett’s 514. Sweet Valley Outfit-
ters copped three from Back Mt.
Sporting Goods sparked by Glen
Mazer’s 236 (552) and R. Bonomo,
Jr.’s 524. The sporting goods team
haD J. Shultz’s 228 (561), D. Wick-
ard’s 538 and L. Coolbaugh 522.
In Our Gang League Porky
blanked Stymie and Buckwheat took
all fromaSpanky. Waldo earned
three from Wheezer while Alfalfa
divided 2-2 with Darla led by L.
Cooper’s 202.
A. Wendel hit the pins for 233
(605) and D. Purvin scattered them
for 212 (566) to lead Harris Asso-
ciates to four points from Katyl TV
in the George Shupp League. T.
Guido added 523. Steele’s Restau-
rant and Fino’s Pharmacy divided
evenly. K. Youngblood rolled 211
Shalata gave 527. R. Harned’s 511
was high series for the restaurant
team.
In the Ladies Country League C.
Smith’s 220-184 (59) and C. Mill’s 174
(486) led the Castlettes to four
points from Fashion Vending whose
high score was A. Hospodar’s 170.
G.H. Harris Associates shut out
Bonomo’s Sports Center paced by J.
Lamoreaux’s 170 (471) and Grotto
Pizza picked up two and one half
points from Gordon Insurance.
Pintos blanked the LaBarons in
the Idetown Compact League. Fire-
birds took all from the Corvettes,
Citations shut out the Capris and the
Camaros split with the Aries.
R. Cross gave the Pintos 573 and
D. Cross hit 510. N. Kozemchak
converted the 4-10 split and Mel
Morris made the 6-7-10 split.
In the Back Mountain Church
League S. Hoover’s 550 paced
Trucksville B to four points from
Shavertown A. C. Kazokas knocked
down pins for 211 (563) and D.
Wright added 562 to give Shaver-
town B three points over East
Dallas whose J. Cobleigh hit 522.
Ball planned
The Pennsylvania Fish Commis-
sion has announced that the 1985
fishing licenses have been distrib-
uted to over 1,700 issuing agents
throughout the Commonwealth just
in time for Christmas.
Prices for 1985 remain the same
as last year; $12, resident license;
$20, non-resident licenese; and $15,
non-resident tourist (7 consecutive
days). Issuing agents receive 50
cents per license in order to cover
handling and bonding costs.
