By CHARLOT M. DENMON Staff Correspondent Lake-Lehman Coach Ed Ladamus “has 30 boys out for wrestling this ‘season, three of whom were district @ champs last season and three others ‘Who wrestled varsity most of the ‘season. ~. Lightweight Jeff Austin placed first in his class in last year’s districts; middleweight Norm Clancy came in third in his weight ~%lass and heavyweight Chris Van uGorder placed second. In addition, Jeff Clancy, Joe Smith and Duane “Miller saw a lot of action during the 2deague competition. Jal _.. Bob Guzenski, Tom Adams, Doug v1de, Bill George and Ed Stratford did some varsity wrestling last “Season but, primarily, they wrestled Jn junior varsity competition. -is:Ladamus also has three good “sophomores who should become increasingly better as the season progresses. These are Don Spencer, «nly Shaw and Billy Walsh. Fresh- .,,Jman Matt Reiner, 98 1bs., has shown Lreat potential as has junior Mark aple, who was with the squad last year. Although inexperienced, Rick :Davies and Mark Major have ability ~:and Ladamus expects to see them in “action before the year is over. —- “We have a lot of inexperienced boys,” said Ladamus, ‘‘so it’s a question this year what we will do as a team. The kids are working hard and should get better as they , go along. By district competition, : we should be alright.” : The Knights’ coach has a good ucleus on which to build with Lustin, Clancy and Van Gorder. Jeff Clancy, Smith and Miller will add to the line-up and Yaple should be “ready for varsity action by the ‘opening meet with Coughlin on Jan- Lary 3. “> The Knights open their exhibition “%éason this Saturday when they travel to Hughesville. “Dallas Coach Larry Schuler has 24 boys out for this year’s wrestling ‘squad, five of whom are seniors and “four of whom wrestled varsity last ‘Season. nw Joe and Jim Patts, Dave Hislop : and John Graham are returning from last season’s line-up. Mark Rogers, senior, missed last year due to. an injury, but wrestled when he ‘was a sophomore. ‘c-Schuler has nije, juniors led by A } Paul™Blrke and Marty Kriner. " Corey Lingass also wrestled last -season and others showing great “potential are Matt Conologue, Brian -Maseychick, Brian Mathers, Chris Vincelli, Paul Perch and Jeff Hock- ery, rer J SPECIAL GROUP OF SKI JACKETS ED LADAMUS Lake-Lehman coach Sophomores who are working tire- lessly are Todd Calkins, Bill Fedrow, Truyen Huyn, Mike Keen, Matt Lipo, Dave Pacawicz, Chris Sorber, Tom Schact, John Sheehan and Bill Mathers. Mathers is a returning varsity member from last season. Like Ladamus, Schuler will prob- ably build the team around his returning starters although fans will see different faces in the lineup as the season goes along since this year’s wrestling team is about the most inexperienced he has ever coached, according to Schuler. Most of the Mountaineers’ depth is in the middleweights. The squad needs more depth in the light and heavy weight classes. LARRY SCHUYLER Dallas coach “It will be a year of developing and learning,” said Schuler. ‘We will ‘be teaching a lot of basic wrestling. We don’t expect a cham- pionship team this season but we do look for a successful season.” Schuler hopes to see the kids improve with each match during the year. He’s expecting them to do their best. The Mountaineers will compete in the Governor Mifflin Tournament during Christmas and New Year’s Day. They will open their exhibition competition this Friday against Mountain View and will meet Valley View on December 18. Their first league match will be with GAR in January.
