Applications are now being
accepted from all over the Keystone
State for the annual Miss Pennsyl-
vania U.S.A. Pageant to be staged
for the seventh time in Greensburg,
Pa., in the Grand Concourse of the
Westmoreland Mall, March 6, 7, 8
and 9. The Miss Pennsylvania
U.S.A. Pageant is an official Miss
U.S.A. - Miss Universe Contest.

There is no ‘performing talent”
requirement, all judging is on the
basis of poise, personality and
beauty of face and figure. Entrants
who qualify must be at least 17
years of age and under 25 years of
age by May 1, 1985, never married
and at least six month residents of
Pennsylvania, thus college dorm
students are eligible. All girls inter-
ested in competing for the title must
write to: Miss Pennsylvania U.S.A.

by Dec. 10. Letters must include a
recent snapshot, a brief biography
and phone number.
The girls chosen as Miss Pennsyl-

Lillian McManus, secretary.
vania U.S.A. will receive a 14-day
all-expense paid trip to Lakeland,
Florida, the site of the Miss U.S.A.
Pageant, and will represent the
Keystone State in the Miss U.S.A.
Pageant nationally televised on
CBS-TV in May. The new winner
will receive a $1,000 Cash Scholar-
ship and choose a $1,000 wardrobe
among her many prizes.
Lake-Lehman ‘is proud and
pleased to announce the return of
one of its graduates as a guest
speaker. Miss Gina Major, Miss
Pennsylvania, will be speaking at
two engagements in early Decem-
ber.
On Sunday, Dec. 2, Miss Major
will be featured as a guest at the
Lake-Lehman Band Banquet, Irem
Temple Country Club, Dallas.
On Monday, Dec. 3, Miss Major
will visit the Lake-Lehman High
School where she will lecture to an
assembly of students, grades nine
through 12. Her talk will include the
opportunities available to those who
seek them and her personal growth
and experiences associated with her
title.
The faculty and student body are
looking forward to Gina’s visit.

Road, Wyoming, died Nov. 7 in
Veterans Administration Medical
Center, Plains Township, following
an apparent heart attack.
Surviving are his wife, the former
Irene Mary Sleboda; daughter,
Maria, at home; son, David, Wilkes-
Barre; brothers, Methodius, Long
Island, N.Y.; Francis, Moscow;
sister, Mrs. Pauline Young, Hele-
don, N.J.
DONA YANCHICK
Mrs. Deana Yanchick, of Box 5,
Firecut Road, Kingston Twp., died
Nov. 12 in Wilkes-Barre General
Hospital shortly after admission.
Surviving are her mother, Janet
Buckland Albertson, Kingston; her
husband, Alex Jr., brother, John
’.noertson, Inkerman; and several
nieces and nephews.

Ella Souder, 71, of RD 1, Benton,
Fairmount Township, died Nov. 18
at the home of her sister, Mrs.
Surviving, in addition to her
sister, are a brother, Owen Meeker,
RD 3, Shickshinny.
Funeral services will be held
today at 11 a.m. from the Clarke
Piatt Funeral Home, Sunset Lake
Road, Hunlock Creek, with the Rev.
James Davis of the Muhlenburg
United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment’ will be in’ Bethel Hill
Cemetery, Bethel Hill. :

Binghamton, N.Y.; Mrs. Violet Ide,

Mrs. Helen Peeler, 86, of 353
Howell Road, Shavertown, formerly
of Swoyersville, died Nov. 16 in the
Leader West Nursing and Rehabili-
tation Center, Kingston, where she
had been a guest for three days.

Swoyersvile; Edward, Rutherford,
N.J.; Robert, Wilkes-Barre;
daugher, Mrs. Anne Karlotski,
Shavertown, with whom she
resided; stepson, William, Inker-
