Dr. Jeffrey Sternlieb of Shaver-
town was the featured speaker at
the annual luncheon meeting of the
Youth Services Commission of Luz-
erne and Wyoming Counties. Dr.
Sternlieb, a clinical psychologist,
ty’s Values are Reflected in Our
“hildren’s Lives.”
Dr. Sternlieb teaches parenting
courses and has been on the teach-
ing faculty of Marywood College,
Scranton, and Mercyhurst College,
Erie. He is consultant to adolescent
group homes, Head Start, day care
centers, and schools among other
community organizations and agen-
cies. He is on the staff of the Wilkes-
Barre General Hospital and NPW
Medical Center. He is currently
president of the board of directors
of the Luzerne County Council on
Child Abuse and secretary and
executive board member of the
Youth Services Commission. In
addition, Dr. Sternlieb provides
counseling services in the Employee
Assistance Programs for IBM and
Sears.
The Youth Services Commission
coordinates and evaluates services
for children and adolescents, recom-
mends and plans new programs,
and educates the public about issues

in the two county area. The work of
the Commission focuses on the pre-
vention of child abuse and neglect,
treatment programs for victims and
their families, and services for
delinquent youths. }

Assigned to
Chanute AFB
Airman Donald E. Ide, son of J.
Elliot and Beverly J. Ide of Rural
Route 4, Dallas, has been assigned
to Chanute Air Force Base, Ill,
after completing Air Force basic
training.
During the six weeks at Lackland
Air Force Base, Texas, the airman
studied the Air Force mission, orga-
nization and customs and received
special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete
basic training earn credits toward
an associate degree through the
Community College of the Air
Force.
The airman will now receive spe-
cialized instruction in the aircraft
maintenance field.
He is a 1984 graduate of Lake-

Attorney Robert D. Elias, son of

Miss Gries is a graduate of Dallas
Senior High School and Wilkes Col-

Masters degree in Businesss Admin-
istration. She is employed by First
Eastern Bank, N.A., in the manage-
ment trainee program and is cur-
rently working in the Consumer
Loan Department, Main Office,

Attorney Elias is a graduate of
E.L. Meyers High School and Vil-
lanova University where he
received a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Political Science. He also
received his Juris Doctorate degree
in Law from Villanova University
School of Law. He is associated with
the law offices of John P. Moses,
Wilkes-Barre.

Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, is currently sponsoring pre
and post natal exercise classes on a continuing basis at the
Mercy Medical Offices, Lake Street, Dallas. Sessions
include stretching, strengthening, aerobic dance, relaxation,
stress reduction, posture and body mechanics. All classes
are taught by a registered physical therapist and a physician
referral is required along with an initial evaluation by the
physical therapist. For further information on this on-going
program, contact the Mercy Physical Therapy Department,

PENN STATE LEHMAN
CAMPUS was the setting for the
Junior League of Wilkes-Barre’s
“Fall Fling”. An old fashion day of
fun included pony rides, apple bob-
bing, and a children’s pumpkin dec-
orating contest. Committee mem-
bers helping to make the day a real
success were Debbie James, Karen
Hungarter, Cathy Mugford, Cindy
Mitchell, Karen Arnaud, Billie
Kinney, Cindy Mailoux and Debbie
Koehl.

GATE OF HEAVEN SCHOOL
recently held its annual Mission
Fair in conjunction with their Hal-
loween parade. What a wonderful
day of fun with games, chances and
loads of food. All items were very
reasonably priced, and best of all,
monies earned were donated to the
missions.

GHAM, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
William H. Conyngham, Dallas, was
baptized last week at Gate of
Heaven Church. Rebecca’s godpar-
ents were Bernice Hosey Volinsky,
West Chester, Pa. and John
Schooley, Belgrade Lakes, Me.
Maternal grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Gaise Lacek, Plymouth.
Rebecca’s great-grandparents are
Mrs. Martha Bogdon, Plymouth,
and the late Mr. and Mrs. F.
Ellsworth Parkhurst, Kingston.
The Conynghams also have a son,
David, and a daughter, Katie.
A luncheon was held at Hillside
Cottage, Shavertown, to celebrate
the occasion.

town, three senior medical technol-
ogy students from College Miseri-
cordia are completing their hospital
laboratory placements under the
guidance of Helen Rulane, educa-
tional coordinator of Medical Tech-
nology at General Hospital.
Dr. Stanley Knapich is director of
Medical Technology at College Mis-
ericordia.

MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM BAR-
RALL, 1319 Jackson Road, Shaver-
town, have returned from a four
day mid-week cruise to the Baha-
mas. They cruised on the TSS Car-
nivale Carnival Cruise Lines fun
ship. During the cruise the liner
cruised throughout the 700 island
chain while visiting Nassau and
Freeport. -0-

Albert J. Jesikiewicz. These couples
were recently married.
Mr. and Mrs. Riccetti were mar-
ried in the Shavertown United Meth-
odist Church by the Rev. James A.
Wert and the Rev. Harry Lewis.
Mrs. Riccetti is the former Tracy
Dodd Innes, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Donn Innes, Sutton Road,
Shavertown. Mr. Riccetti is the son
of Mrs. John D. Riccetti, Pine Rd.,
Plains and the late Mr. Riccetti.
Following the ceremony, a garden
reception was held at the home of
the bride’s parents.
Mrs. Riccetti is a cum laude
graduate of Wyoming Seminary who
received a bachelor of arts degree
in English from Skidmore College.
She is pursuing a degree in Business
Data Processing. Mrs. Riccetti is
employed by Nicholson Division,
Wilkes-Barre.
Mr. Riccetti is a graduate of
Elmer L. Meyers High School. He
received a bachelor of arts degree
in Political Science from Mansfield
State College and a bachelor of
science degree in accounting from
King’s College. He is employed by

Following a wedding trip to Nova
Scotia, the Riccettis are residing in
Kingston.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Jesikiew-
icz were married by the Rev. John
Kowalkiewicz at Nuptial Mass in SS
Peter and Paul Church, Plains.
Mrs. Jesikiewicz is the former
Marcia M. Wazeter, daughrer of
Mr. Alexander J. Wazeter and the
late Helen Gacha Wazeter, Shaver-
town. Mr. Jesikiewicz is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Jesikiewicz,
Sr., Plains.
An evening reception was held at
the Woodlands an Inn, Wilkes-
Barre.
The wedding party was enter-
tained at a rehearsal party given by -
the parents of the bridegroom at the ;
Plains American Legion Post Home. *
Mrs. Jesikiewicz is a graduate of |
Dallas High School and Bloomsburg
State College. She received her
masters degree in Special Educa-
tion and Rehabilitation from Boston
College. She is employed by Blind-
ness and Visual Services, Wilkes- -
Barre.
Mr. Jesikiewicz is a graduate of
Coughlin High School. He is
employed by Inter-Metro Industries
Corp., Wilkes-Barre.

Teachers will
be honored
College Misericordia’s celebration”
of American Education Week will
begin with a special liturgy honor
ing teachers on Sunday, Nov. 11, at-
10 a.m., in the college chapel.
Current and retired teachers are
invited to participate in the services
conducted by college chaplain, the
Reverend John Bendick. Father
Bendick will be assisted by students
majoring in teacher education.
American Education Week is
observed across the nation from
Nov. 11-17.
“During this week, Misericordia
has scheduled several activities
designed to honor area educators,”
said Dr. Joseph Rogan, chairman of
the Division of Education. The high-
light will be the presentation of the
college’s annual Teachers Award on
Nov. 14, he added.
College Misericordia has been
preparing teachers since its found-
ing in 1924. Currently, the college
offers programs in elementary edu-
cation, early childhood education,
special education, music education
and school nursing.
