Groups honored
Three area organizations, the St.
Vincent de Paul Kitchen (Wilkes-
Barre), Gabriel House (Pittston)
and The Catherine McAuley Center
for Women (Scranton), have been
awarded a total of $29,000 in grants
from the Mercy Action Foundation
(Silver Spring, MD) in recognition
and support of their educational and
sheltering projects aimed at helping
poor and displaced women in Luz-
erne and Lackawanna Counties.
The Catherine McAuley Center, a
transitional shelter for women in
crisis and their children, is the
recipient of $12,000. The shelter
sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy,
Scranton Province, is housed in the
former St. Joseph Convent.

"A membership drive is currently underway to
support the formation of an auxiliary of the Meadows
Nursing Center, Dallas, according to Catherine Bolin-
ski, auxiliary chairperson.
Many Back Mountain residents have responded to a
recent mailing seeking active and sustainer member-
ships, but more membrs are needed for this major
- Back Mountain residents are invited to attend an
auxiliary membership meeting on Monday, Nov. 12 at
10:30 a.m. in the Community Room at the Meadows
Apartments, Lake St., Dallas (adjacent to the nursing
center).
Charter membership cards will be distributed at the
meeting. For those not able to attend, membership

MRS. IRMA EICKE, of 29 Lehigh
St., Shavertown, has returned home
after being a medical patient at
Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kings-
ton.

KRISTINA BOUDREAUX, daugh-
ter of Ronald and Melba Boudreaux,
RD 3, Box 45, Wyoming, has
enrolled at Messiah College in Gran-
tham, Pennsylvania, with a Dean’s
Scholarship for the 1984-1985 aca-
demic year.
A freshman majoring in psychol-
ogy, Boudreaux is a graduate of
Dallas Senior High School.
Dean’s Scholarships ranging from
$500 to $1,250 are awarded annually
to incoming freshmen who ranked
in the top 15 percent of their high
school graduating calss, and scored
at least a total of 1000 on the
Scholastic Aptitude Test or 22 on the
Composite American College Test.

sary party held recently at the
Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas,
where Mr. Cragle resides. 120 resi-
dents joined in celebrating the occa-
sion.
The couple was married in
Bethesda Congregational Church,

Henry. Their attendants were the
late Hannah Jones and Carl Gladey.
Mrs. Cragle is the former Eleanor
