ANITA KALIE is the daughter of
Jean Kalie of Hunlock Creek. Anita
is a member of the Key Club Board
of Directors. Vice-president of her
ss, and is a statistician for the
ball team. She is also a graduate
of the In-Vogue Modeling School and
enjoys roller skating, crochet, smil-
ing, and helping people. Anita plans
to pursue a career in medicine but
is undecided as to which college she
will attend.

DAVE KAPITULA is the son of
Joseph and Charlene Kapitula of
Shavertown. Dave’s hobbies include
skiing, and tennis. He is a member
of the National Honor Society and
the Key Club and is a Credit Union
Youth Ambassador. Dave plans to
major in Pre-Med at the University
of Miami.

PAM SOLINSKI is the daughter of
Joe and Pauline Solinski of Idetown.
She participates in field hockey,
basketball softball and other out-
door activities. Pam is looking for-
ward to competing in states in field
hockey and plans to study sports
psychology or a related field in

THE BAND is sponsoring a Hal-
loween-Homecoming dance for
Friday at 7 p.m. Yearbooks will
also be handed out at the dance. (

THE SENIOR CLASS selected the
six girls who will represent them at
the Homecoming ceremonies on Sat-
urday. The girls and their escorts
are: Donna DeGennaro and Colin
Keefer, Cheryl Campbell and Jeff
Keller, Jodi Casterline and Tim Ide,
Samantha Wood and Vince Vespico,
Monica Fletcher and Dave Jachiov-
icz, and Deanne Williamson and
Tony Sayre.
CONGRATULATIONS to the foot-
ball team on their 26-3 victory over
Northwest. The Knights got all the
points they needed on their third
play from scrimmage when Bill
secondary and hauled in a 57-yard
touchdown pass. The Knights com-
pletely dominated the game, only
allowing the Rangers a field goal
and 77 yards of total offense. Chris
VanGorder scored twice and Bill
George added to the barrage with a
10-yard jaunt into the endzone.
THE LAKE-LEHMAN CROSS-
COUNTRY TEAM turned in an
impressive showing in the Montrose
Invitational which featured many of
the best teams in the state. The
Knights finished fourth overall and
individual honors were garnered by
Dave Janiczek and John Rosen-
crans who finished third and sixth
respectively.
The Lake-Lehman School District
announces a new Pre-School-Early
Education Program for parents and
their pre-school children (4-year-
olds), featuring four to six annual
presentations on a variety of topics
in each elementary school. These
presentations will be structured to
offer concurrent activities for both
parents and their children, and will
deal with such topics as: physical
wellness, nutrition, prevention of
toxic substance exposure, full-time
kindergarten. orientation and
screening, reading and math readi-
ness, parent effectiveness training,
etc.

Elementary School on Thursday,
Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; Lake-
Noxen Elementary School on Thurs-
day, Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
and Ross Elementary School on
Frieay, Oct. 26, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Separate activities are scheduled
for both adults and children. Coffee
and donuts will be available for
parents. While parents are involved
with presentations from principals,
teachers, guidance counselor, and
nurse, the children will be engaged
in an organized playtime in the
gym, storytime in the library, a
building tour, and a snack.
Parents may ‘register’ for this
first presentation by simply calling
the neighboring elementary school
office and letting us kow how many
adults and children will be attend-
ing. Telephone numbers are as fol-

Students in Mrs. Cathy Tasco’s
homeroom at Dallas Intermediate
School are developing visual enrich-
ment projects on individual life
experiences. Each child will display
his completed project for an
assigned week during the school
year.
After research and preparation,
pupils arrange photographs, collec-
tions and other special interest
items in the classrooms. Included in
the week’s activity is a class discus-
sion and a question and answer
session.
Celebrated as this week’s student
of the week is Jason Gainey. For
son’s This Is Your Life project he
shoulder pads symbolic of his desire
to become a pro football player. He
also displayed last year’s baseball,
baseball hat, baseball mitt, farm
league picture. Jason artistically
displayed family photos, of a visit to
Disney World and New York City,
as well as their summer home.

Mission Sunday was celebrated on
October 21 with the Most Rev.
James C. Timlin, Bishop of Scran-
ton, serving as Principal Celebrant
and Homilist at a special Mission
Mass at Saint Peter’s Cathedral,
Scranton.
This year, all elementary schools
in the Scranton Diocese were
invited to send two students to
represent their school in the “Pro-
cession of Nations.” Those students
participating in the procession were
identified by their native dress and
a sign of their country or flag colors
of the nation they represented.
Gate of Heaven School in Dallas
was represented by Marlo Sholtis, a
fourth grade student, and Eric Wil-
liams, fifth grade students. Marlo
and Eric represented Mexico in the
‘Procession of Nations.”

CHRISTINE CHIMOCK is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel
Chimock of Shavertown. Christine is
a business major in high school and
her favorite class is Business
English. She is currently a dietary
aide at the Meadows Nursing Home
in Dallas. Christine hope to attend
Lackawanna Jr. College after grad-
uation and study to be a medical or
legal secretary.

JOE DARLING is the offspring of
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Darling, of
Hildebrandt Road in Dallas. Joe is
currently a member of the basket-
ball team - he’s the center
(obviously since he’s 6’5’’). In his
free time, Joe enjoys working on
cars and playing football. He is also
a big help to his dad when he works
on the family farm. Another of Joe’s
hobbies is listening to music by his
favorite rock group - 38 Special.
After graduation, Joe plans to
attend college, but is undecided on a
major.

MELISSA DAVIES is the daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs.: William Davies
of Shavertown. Missy's activities
include. the steering committee,
yearbook an she is presently quar-
termaster of the strutter squad. She
has also been a member of both the
Prom and Homecoming courts.
Missy plans to attend Penn State
and major in English after gradua-
tion.

TRACY DAVIS is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Davis III, of
High Point Acres in Dallas. Tracy is
presently the quartermaster of the
silks squad and an active member
in chorus. She is also a member of
the yearbook committee. Although
her schedule keeps her quite busy,
Tracy often finds time to paint or
play the piano. Tracy hopes to
attend Penn State to major in ele-
mentary-early childhood education.

held between classes at Dallas High
last week. The competition lasted a
week in which spirit links were on.

WE WISH TO CONGRATULATE
the winners of the pumpkin - deco-
rating contest held on Wednesday,
Oct. 17 in the school gym. Following
are the first place winners in each
grade: First grade, Erin Kane and
Mark Wojciekowski. Second grade,
Nicole Anagule and Amy Wis-
newski. Third grade, Corin Schall
and Mark Finarelli. Fourth grade,
Sean Brady and Stephen Bredaric.
Fifth grade, Cyndi Elenchick and
Robert Casterline. Sixth grade,
Gregory Stahovec and John Lucas.
Seventh grade, Maria Bigus. Eighth
grade, Albert Finarelli. The deco-
rated pumpkins, varied and fantas-
tic as the ywere, gave evidence of
much planning and real skill.
Everyone enjoyed seeing the dis-
played pumpkins.
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ITS
HISTORY, Gate of Heaven is plan-
ning to elect a Student Council.
There are 13 offices on the commis-
sion. Students from eight, seventh
and sixth grades are eligible for
election if qualifications are ful-
filled. The primary election is
scheduled for Thursday, the 25th.
Each candidate is permitted to
make a two minute campaign
speech before the student body. The

BRIAN JEZUIT of the fourth
grade at Gate of Heaven recently
participated in a Karate Competi--
tion at the Dynasty Karate Acad--
emy in Lehighton, Pa. The competi-
tion encompasses several states
including, Pennsylvania, New York
and Maryland. Brian, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Michael Jezuit of Harris,
Hill in Trucksville, won second
place in Kata Form. He is the
equivalent of a Blue Belt; his style
is Shorin-Ryu. Mrs. Carol Long is

JOELLEN DRAPIEWSKI, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dra-
piewski of Oak Hill, Dallas, is
undeced "about her future career
plans, but hopes to attend Bishop
O'Reilly High School next year.
JoEllen, was recently elected Cap-
tain of the cheerleading squad at
Gate of Heaven. She enjoys sports,
especially swimming and volleyball.
JoEllen has no favorite subject in
school, she enjoys them all equally.
Her favorite song is ‘Do Not Stand
in the Shadows.” She likes music by
Billy Idol.
