Dallas Mountaineers, coached by Don Hosey, picked up their first win by defeating Wyo- ming Area 27-29. Northwest won two matches by forfeit in the girls com- petition. Dan Pszenichzny placed first in 15:44 and Jan Artley came in second in 16:10 to lead Northwest to their double win. Bob Oliver of Dallas took third with 16:27 and M. Wright of Dallas placed fourth with 16:40. Wyoming's Laport took fifth in 16:51; Northwest's Petrosky came in sixth in 17:06; Warrior Hromek made seventh with 17:13; C. In the second tri-meet of the week over Tunkhannock’s 2.9 mile course, the Mountaineers were defeated 25- 32 by the Tunkhannock tigers but in turn the Mountaineers won 23-32 over Seton Catholic Eagles. Mountaineers Mark Wright placed ahead of all runners with 16:31 and his team mate Bob Oliver came in second in 16:33. The wins gave the Black Knights a 7-1 record to date. Hanover’s Gerry Gabriel placed second in 16:02 and Knight John Rosencrans came in third in 16:15. Bruce Weaver notched a hat-trick on the day scoring twice unassisted and one aided by Scharff. John Mersh- baum netted both goals for the Sting who played most of the game with 9 men due to injuries. BM Strikeers posted a 3-0 win over the FF Pioneers on goals by D.J. Hopkins on a pass from Dale Root on the Wing. Chris Hampel hammered in the second goal then assisted J.J. Phillips on the third. Charlie Leaf recorded the shut out in goal for the STrikers. BM Rowdies downed the MT Rangers 7-0 with John Sheehan recording his fourth shut-out of the season in goal. Jeff Miller notched his first goal of the season having a super game in midfield, as Paul Melone notched his second hattrick of the season. The Mountaineers dropped to 8-3 following Wednesday, Sept. 26, match with Valley West over the same course when they were edged 11-10 by the Spartans. Shutouts by Rich Holthaus and A.J. Bittner led the Mountaineers to the win over the Mohawks although Meyers John Donnini took first medalist honors with a one-over-par 49 on the 12-hole course. Mountaineers Derek Tamburro took second honors with 57 and Jim Aikman was third with 58. Donnini shut out Tamburro 3-0 and Mohawk Grula took Darren Spivey 21-1. Jim Aikman of Dallas defeated Tarutis 2%-%; Mount Albert won over Roberts 2Y%-l%; Holthaus shut out Lecce 3-0 and Bittner blanked Klug 3-0.
