WANDA WOJCIK, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wojcik. Wanda’s brother, Joe, was an ’83 graduate from Lake-Lehman. Wanda is a member of the yearbook staff and an avid athlete, who enjoys swimming, softball, tennis and bike riding. After graduation, Wanda hopes to go to Penn State Ww major in Business Manage- ment. DEANNE WILLIAMSON, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Williamson of Hunlock Creek. Deanne is a member of the undefeated hockey team and co-captain of the twirlers in the Lehman Marching Band. She starts at the sweeper position in field hockey and is a major reason why the LL defense is unscored upon. In Deanne’s spare time, she also has joined the Yearbook staff and will pursue her wide variety of interests. BILLI-JO SORBER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sorber of Harveys Lake. Billi-Jo is an active person at LL participating in band, field hockeyand Yearbook staff. For six years Billi-Jo has been a playing member of the band and is pres- ently section leader and treasurer. She also had made District and Regional Band for her sophomore and junior years and hopes to con- tinue the streak. Billi-Jo is a versa- tile member of the hockey team with her positions being wing, inner, and midfield and has hopes of the team winning states. STEVE LONG, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Long of Loyalville. Steve is a member of the baseball team and his positions are 3rd base and left field When Steve is not practicing baseball, he fishes and works on cars. His future plans include 4 years in the navy and to pursue and engineering carer. KAREN AUSTIN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Austin of Sweet Valley. Karen is a 5 year veteran of the LL Band and plays the flute. She is also a dedicated member of the Cross-country and track team and keeps in shape by running in her spare time. Karen is a member of the popular LL Key Club. The election was necessary because the regular election failed to produce, a clear- cut winner. -0- GOALIE CINDY SLOCUM recorded her 7th straight shutout as the Lady Knights hockey team defeated Abington Heights 2-0 and Meyers 3-0. Lake-Lehman shall face GAR Friday on the Grenadiers field. -0- THE KNIGHTS FOOTBALL TEAM fell to 1-3 after losing to Hanover 40-6 on Saturday afternoon. Lehman held tough in the first half, losing only 7-6 at intermission. Fullback Chris VanGorder contin- ued his stellar ways with strong defensive showing. -0- ON SATURDAY, SEPT. 22, the Lake-Lehman Band traveled to Red- land High School to compete in the Sound of the Patriots Competition. In their class, Lake-Lehman received first in overall percusion, overall band front, high general effects, best Drum major. Lehman also was awarded the overall trophy from all the schools; which they shall keep because they have won it for the 3rd time. Melissa’ future plans include college, where she intends to major in business. ERNIE BARBER is the son of Martin and Gail Sivar of R.D. 1, Pittston. Ernie’s activities include editor-in-chief of the yearbook and drama club. He is also interested in photography. Ernie hopes to attend college and become an aeronautical engineer. JAMIE BARLOW is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Barlow of ally becoming a jeweler. BOB BENSAVAGE is the son of Ken and Cathy Miller of the Valley View Trailer Park in Dallas. One of his main interests is hunting. After graduation, Bob plans to join the Marines. BRIAN BLESSNER is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Blessner of Orange. The participants found the evaluation interesting and believe that it will be helpful in understand- ing themselves and others. THE FIRST MEETING OF THE PARENT-TEACHERS GUILD was held in the school cafeteria on Wednesday evening. New officers were introduced, and plans outlined for the 1984-85 school year. A short social period followed during which parents and teachers could become better acquainted. SEPTEMBER 24 MARKED the Donna Greger observance of ‘Mercy Day”. An assembly program will be held, featuring the life of Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy who have worked among the people of this area for many years, and have staffed the school since its opening in 1951. UNDER THE DIRECTION of Mrs. Rutkoski, eighth grade home- room teacher, the school is organiz- ing a Board of Commissioners. This board will serve as representatives of the student body. Voting for officers will take place in Novem- ber, preceded by a short campaign period. Further information will be reported as the campaign begins. THE SIXTH GRADE CLASSES are doing sketches and drawings or rivers in the area of their own heritage. The drawings will be entered in the upcoming Folk-Festi- val. A NEW ATTRACTION in the second grade is a listening center. Each child takes a turn at the equipment. All seem to be enthu- siastic about this new experience in the classroom. THE UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN will soon begin at Gate of Heaven. Assemblies will be held on Oct. 9 and 10 for all grades. A film show- ing the achievements of The United Way will be shown and a guest speaker will present important information to the students.
