Band projects
are underway
The Lake-Lehman Band Sponsors
have begun work on several fall
projects. T
The band’s annual booster week-
end has been designated for Sep-
tember 28, 29 and 30. Band mem-
bers, dressed in band pants, white
shirts, and band jackets, will can-
vass neighborhoods to distribute
stickers. Many families prominently
display these stickers on a window
in their home or car. This year’s
~ stickers are designed to honor the
“band’s trip to Montreal, Canada.
The ongoing support given to this
project is greatly appreciated.

DR. IVAN QUANDT, associate
professor in the Psychology of
Reading Department at Temple
University, will speak at the Luz-
erne County Reading Council meet-
ing on Sept. 29 at the Arena Restau-
rant, Route 115 and Kidder Streete,
Wilkes-Barre following a breakfast
buffet and business meeting.
Arrival time for the morning’s
activities has been set for 9:45 a.m.
with breakfast-buffet at 10 a.m.

THE SHAVERTOWN UNITED
METHODIST CHURCH will be the
setting for a large district youth
rally on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.
The evening will begin with music
and food; followed by presentations
nion and commissioning service will
follow.
All interested persons are urged
to attend.
THE BACK MOUNTAIN WRES-
TLING CLUB will hold its monthly
meeting on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 6
p.m. in the Dallas Junior High
School buidling. Charles = Gordon,
President will preside.
All parents of wrestlers are urged
to attend. Newcomers are also wel-
come to attend.
The club is planning to conduct
two weeks for registering wrestlers
in the elementary grades. Wrestlers
from the Lake-Lehman area will be
able to register the week ofOct. 24,
while those from the Dallas area
may register the week of Nov. 6.
The time and actual places of regis-
tering for a particular area will be
published. Anyone from any area
may register at either time or
place.
Other activities will be discussed
at upcoming meetings.
x VETERANS OF THE VIETNAM
WAR, Post No. 2, will meet on
Thursday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. at the
Coral Lounge, 245 Owne St., Swoy-
ersville. The Veterans of the Viet-
nam War, Inc. is a full service
