the engagement and approaching
marriage of her daughter, Barbara
Ann Burkhardt to Eric G. Menzel,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Menzel,
Applewood Manor, Dallas.
Miss Burkhardt is also the daugh-
ter of the late Clifford A. Burkhardt.
She is a graduate of Dallas High
School, Wilkes-Barre Vocational-
Technical School of Practical Nurs-
ing and Luzerne County Community
College. She is employed as a regis-
tered nurse at the Veterans Admin-
istration Medical Center,
Mr. Menzel, also a graduate of
Dallas High Schooll, is employed at
Herbie’s Auto Body Shop, Kingston.
‘Wedding vows will be exchanged
on October 6 in Gate of Heaven

tain School of the
Wilkes-Barre
Ballet: The school
has just opened
in the Trucksville
Methodist Educa-
tional Building.
The school offers
creative move
ments for four and five year olds,
pre-ballet for six and seven year
olds, beginner ballet for eight to 12
year olds and moder tap movement
classes for teenagers and adults. I
really feel that a Ballet School is a
nice addition to the cultural aspects
of our community. ;

Following a wedding trip to Ocean

Mrs. Precone is the former Mary
Kate O'Donnell, daughter of Mr.

Kingston. Mr. Precone is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Precone sr.,

Elstons wed

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Elston,
Kunkle, celebrated their 69th wed-
ding anniversary on Sept. 8. 6
Mr. Elston, a retired farmer, is
the son of the late Marvin K. and
Lana Elston. Mrs. Elston is the
daughter of the late John and
Estella Isaacs.
The couple has six children,
Marvin Elston, Dallas; Gomer
HElston, Wayne Elston, Gene Elston,
Mrs. Dorothy Dodson, all of Kunkle;
and Mrs. Lana Birnstock, Clear-
water, Fla. They also have 21
grandchildren and 32 great- grand-
children.
The couple were honored with a
family gathering with their children
and their families at their home in
Kunkle.

Williams enrolls
at Lycoming
John Williams, of RD 1, Box 63,
Harveys Lake, is one of more than
450 new students to enroll at Lycom-
ing College for the first semester of
the 1984-85 academic year.
Lycoming is an independent,
coeducational college that annually
enrolls 1,250 students in 32 tradi-
tional and contemporary majors
and 11 cooperative and preprofes-
sional programs. The college’s most
popular majors are business admin-
istration, accounting, computer sci-
ence, nursing, biology, and mass
communications. All of its pro-
grams build on a base of liberal arts
and sciences.
