Deborah is majoring in Communication Dis- orders. Deborah is a recent graduate of Lake-Lehman High School. She was Salutatorian of her class and received the James L. Nicholas Scholarship Award. This award, in memory of the late James L. Nicho- las, Lake-Lehman High School Prin- cipal, is given to a graduating senior and is based on leadership, citizenship, and scholastic achieve- ments. It was presented to Deborah by Mr. Leslie Nicholas. While at Lake-Lehman, Deborah has received three Certificates of Merit from the National Fduca- tional Development Tests for being in the top 10 percent nationwide. the U.S. National Homemakers Award, Math Award, and National Leader- DEBORAH HAEFELE ship Merit Award from the United States Achievement Academy. She has also been selected as a candi- date for the Miss T.E.E.N. Pageant, and was selected for the Penn State Scholars Program as well as being a member of Who's Who Among American High School Students, and the National Honor Society for five years. She has been awarded the Top Student Award and the Girl of the Year Award from the Harveys Lake Womans Club, the Top Student Award from the Lake Silkworth Lions Club, and the Presidential Academic Fitness Award. Deborah has participated in field hockey for six years, track for one year, Back Mountain softball for six years and was also a member of the Yearbook staff at Lehman. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Searfoss, Shaver {fy town and the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Griffith, Mountaintop. She also has a brother, Daniel, who attended Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. Belinda Yanchick, a member of the environmental services staff at College Misericordia in Dallas, was recently named recipient of (‘ustom Environmental Services’ (CES) Accounting Proficiency Award at the 1964 CES Divisional Conference held at Split Rock Lodge in Lake Harmony. Custom Environmental Services is a division of Cusom Management Corporation (CMC) and provides professional management in the areas of housekeeping, plant opera: tions, maintenance, laundry suppor! and materials supervision. According to Bob Madigan, presi dent of CES, the Accounting Profi: ciency Award is presented to ar individual who has continuously submitted accurate and timely financial reports throughout the company's fiscal period. Yanchick joined CES’s staff in 1960 and is a past recipient of the division's Certificate of Achieve- ment. She is a graduate of King's Degree in Health Care Manage- ment. Esopi named The appointment of Margifly Barnes Esopi, Dallas, to the positio of coordinator of the Educational Opportunity Program at the Wilkes- Barre campus of the Pennsylvania State University was announced by John R. Murphy, director of student programs and services at the local campus in Lehman. Mrs. Esopi, a 1979 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Penn State. earned a B.A. in linguistics and a B.S. in Russian Technical Transla- tion. She worked as a technical translator of Russian and French in New York, served as the curriculum coordinator at Upward Bound at Wilkes College, and. most recently. is co-owner with her husband of New Market Groups.
