The 71st Annual Reunion of the
Crispell Family (Pennsylvania
Branch) was held on Saturday, Aug.
11, at Dymond Grove, Noxen, with
approximately 67 attending.
The Crispells are descendants of
Antoine (Crespel) Crispell, who
came to this country in 1660 and,
along with 11 other patentees,
founded the village of New Paltz,
Crispell and his wife settled in the
Noxen-Beaumont area, and it is the
descendants of this couple who gath-
ered together for the event.
Earl Crispell of Noxen, recently
re-elected President of the National
Crispell Family Association which
covers the entire United States,

reported on the Annual Crispell
Family Reunion at New Paltz in
July. He spoke about the early
history of the family and empha-
sized that the oldest named street in
the United States with the original
stone houses still standing is in New
Paltz, near here. All the houses are
the originals and were built from
1692 to 1712. The original stone
church erected in 1717 was no
longer standing, so the Crispell
Family constructed a replica of the
Church which was dedicated in 1972,
and this Church is maintained by
the Crispell family. It is in this
Church that the annual meeting was
held at which Mr. Crispell presided.

Tercentary there in 1978, and Earl
Crispell portrayed Antoine Crispell
in the pageant, depicting signing the
agreement purchasing the land
from the Indians. The Crispells
treated the Indians fairly and they
lived together in peace.
The same officers were elected
for the ensuing year: John Sidorek,
president; Lela Crispell Sickler,
vice president; Lois Post, recording
secretary; Emily Krafjack, corre-
sponding secretary; Alma Brown,
treasurer. Nominating committee
for next year is Ella Cobleigh,
Helen Crispell and Letha Schenck.
Earl Crispell reported that he had
sold the last of the Crispell Family
The following committee was
appointed to determine the cost for
a second printing: Earl Crispell,
John Sidorek and Judi Crispell.
Family members were encouraged
to return their geneology sheets as
soon as possible for incorporation
into a second supplement to the
family records. Committee
appointed to compile the geneology
records for the supplement are:
Merrion Crispell Moyer, Lela Sick-
ler, Earl and Helen Crispell and
Minnie Sidorek. Also appointed to
the committees were: Judy Wil-
liams, games; Eunice Sorber, enter-
tainment; and Doris Crispell, gifts.

Courtney Marie Scutt of 512 Wyo-
ming Avenue, Dupont, celebrated
her sixth birthday on Aug. 8. Court-
ney is the daughter of Robert and
Carol Scutt.
Her grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. James Scutt of Dallas; Mrs.
Mary Kivak and the late Frank
Kivak of Dupont. Courtney is also
the great-granddaughter of Mrs.
Javeczik of Dupont, Mrs. Nettie
Scutt of Hudson and Mrs. Maria
Kania of Plainsville.

RUTH KAMINSKI, daughter of
Zita Kaminski an the late Theodore
Kaminski of the Back Mountain,
recently completed her Master's
Degree in Early Childhood Educa-
tion Special Education at the Uni-
versity of Oregon.
Ms. Kaminski received her Bach-
elor’s Degree from Penn State Uni-
versity in 1975 and worked for six
years with the capital area interme-
diafe unit pre-school program in
Harrisburg before moving to
Eugene, Oregon to pursue graduate
studies.
Ms. Kaminski is currently work-
ing as a researcher at the Univer-
sity of Oregon and, in September,
will move to Seattle whre she will
begin work on her PhD in Child
Psychology at the University of
Washington. L

DON DICKSON, JR. AND GREG
KUHERT have returned from a
visit with former AFS exchange
student Andrea Morresi in Macher-
ata, Italy. While visiting Andrea,
Don and Greg also viewed the sights
in Rome, vince, Milan and the
Italian Alps. Andrea lived with the
Dickson family during his term as
AFS student in the Dallas School
District throughout the 1982-83
school year.
