Mrs. Hanson, who, along with her husband, Donald, owns Hansons’ Amusement Park, said the family is closing the park this fall to devote full time to their campground and to expand on the camping facilities they already offer. “Camping is the largest growing pasttime in the United States,” said Mrs. Hanson. “We aren’t going out of business altogether. We are selling the rides to expand our camping area.’’ Besides the camping area, Hanson’s will also continue to run their restaurant, arcade and public gaeach. & “Of course, the restaurant and arcade attracts a lot of the local people, but we’ve had people camp here from New Jersey, Texas, and even Florida,” boasts Mrs. Hanson. The Hansons have advertised their campground in two national camping directories, “Trailer Life’ and “Good Sam.” They will be listed in the 1985 directory, but according to Mrs. Hanson, this isn’t the only advertising they’ve done. ! new principal By PAMELA AARON Staff Correspondent The Dallas School District will welcome a new Junior/Senior High School - Principal in Dr. Thomas Cypher as the 1984-85 school year begins next week. ° Cypha, who "was ‘recom- ae Major “Word of mouth is the best advertising,” she claimed. ‘‘A woman from California has already made reservations to stay here while she is visiting family in the area.” The expanded camping area will be open to campers by April 1 of 1985 and the season will run through October 31. “I think you’ll be seeing more people coming to the lake, not less,” said Mrs. Hanson. ‘Campers will bring more business to the local businesses, too.” Shirley Javer, co-owner of Javer’s Store, may be one of the business people who will profit from such a resort. “I’ve always felt that the campgrounds were a good idea,” she said. ‘Perhaps it will bring more business to the lake, but right now it’s hard to tell. “The future of the lake is up in the air right now,” she added, ‘‘but I don’t think it's going to be as bad as everyone feels it’s going to be.” Another area businessman, Richard Williams, owner of May’s Place, isn’t worried about a drop in business. “It’s true that the actual resortism has been declining since people began moving here to live,” he said, ‘‘but with it, the population increases. The lake will just be used differently. “The number of visitors has definitely declined, but there’s still a lot who come here during the week- ends,” he continued. ‘‘Many come on Sunday after- noons just to drive around the lake.” : Ready to roll Dallas Post/Ed Campbell By CHARLOT M. These are some of the comments one may hear when pass- ing by the excavation site, freshly dug, at the corner of 309 and Mach- ell Avenue in Dallas. The structure itself will house varying medical specialties, although names cannot be released as yet. Of the many different suites, the largest will be that of Drs.
