a SEER Runners from throughout the Commonwealth and the Mid-Atlan- tic region will vie for top honors and the opportunity to win a weekend trip to New York City in the Dairy Dash II, to be held Sunday, Sept. 16 in Scranton, according to state Agri- culture Secretary Penrose Hallow- ell. Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and the American Dairy Association, the 10 kilometer highly competitive race gets underway at 11 a.m. and winds its way through the streets of Scran- ton and the hilly countryside of picturesque Lackawanna County. Trophies are awarded to all first place winners, male and female in each age division. Second and third place finishers will receive ribbons. The top three finishers in each division will also receive a basket of dairy products. Age categories include2 18 and under; ages 19-30; ages 31-40; ages 41-49; and age 50 and over. In addition, all participating run- ners are eligible to win a weekend excursion to New York City, includ- ing two nights lodging, two tickets to a Broadway show, plus, $100 spending money. The drawing will be held during the award festivities in Courthouse Square following the Dairy Dash and a two-mile fun run. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in the fun run open division competition. The pre-registration deadline for both races is September 7. The pre- registration fee for runners desiring a specially designed t-shirt is $5 and $3 for other entrants. Registration fee on race day is $4. Applications can be obtained at the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Regional Officein Tunkhannock, or by calling Russell Gunton at (717) 836-2181. Women choose All-Star Team The Back Mountain Women’s Soft- ball League recently picked its All- Stars Team for the 1984 season. Named to the team are Judy Lemmond, Nancy Shaw, Cathy Pope, Sue Brown, Cindy Cave, Cindy Lefko, Jody Crispell, Betty Newell, Sandy Shone, Jill Radzinski, Kenneath BArnes, Mary Gushonas, Alice Case, Beccky Faux, Lynn Brown and Sue Stockage. George Miller of Miller's Econ- omy has been chosen to coach the All Star team. Miller will be assisted by Ed Lyons and Gladys Crispell. {The All-Star team will play a benefit game on Monday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Beaumont Little League Field against the Insta-Bats from WNEP-TV Channel 16. The benefit is being held for Joey Matysik, a recent tornado victim from the Sweet Valley area.
