logical Seminary of Evanston, Illi-
nois, and the Master of Divinity
degree magna cum laude at Drew
University, Madison, New Jersey.
She has served in various par-
ishes as a certified Director of
Christian Education and has been at
the Huntsville United Methodist
Church since 1981. She was ordained
a Deacon in 1981. She completed a
Clinical Pastoral Education course
at NPW Hospital in April, serving
as an assistant chaplain in that

institution during that eight month
program.
Pastor Santos is a professional
singer having been a soloist at
Temple B’nai Brith in Kingston,
since 1973. She is a sololist and
Board member for the Wyoming
Valley Oratorio Society and a past
president of the Mozart Club of
Wyoming Valley.
Her husband, Rosendo Santos, is a
music professor at Wilkes College.
They have three sons, Erik, Nathan
and Jason, who are also musicians.
Pastor Santos will work with Rev.
James A. Wert, Senior Pastor, and
will be involved in various phases of
pastoral ministry for the parish on a
part-time basis.

VICTOR T. AMBRUSO, JR., son
of Dr. and Mrs. Victor T. Ambruso,
Sr. of Bunker Hill, was among a
group of seventh graders who
recently participated in Duke Uni-
versity’s fourth annual search for
mathematically and verbally bril-
liant students. The students were
honored at a ceremony held at the
University of Arkansas at Little
Rock.
The Ambrusos, who recently
returned to this area, were residing
in Arkansas.
Victor Jr. will attend Bishop
O’Reilly School District in Septem-
ber.

RACHEL T. THOM, of Dallas, has
spring term at Skidmore College, a
coeducational, liberal arts institu-
tion with an enrollment of 2,100
students.
Highest honors are awarded for a
quality point ratio of 3.6 or more
from a possible 4.0. Honors are
awarded for a ratio of 3.2 to 3.59.
Ms. Thom is the daughter of Dr.
and Mrs. William Thom III of 380
Pioneer Ave., Dallas.

ELIZABETH J. SEGRAVE-
DALY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Segrave-Daly, Shavertown,
graduated cum laude from Boston
College with a: Bachelor ofArts
Degree in French and English.
Ms. Segrave-Daly participated in
the Junior Year Abroad program,
spending her junior year in Montpe-
lier, France, at the University of
Montpelier.
Elizabeth is a graduate of Wyo-
ming Seminary, Kingston.
STEPHEN LAWRENCE
SEGRAVE-DALY, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur Segrave-Daly, Shaver-
town, graduated with a degree of
Doctor of Medicine from the Medi-
cal College of Pennsylvania in Phil-
adelphia. He will now begin a four-
year residency in the Obstetrics-
Gynecology service at the Hospital
of Medical College of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Segrave-Daly attended St.
Joseph’s Preparatory School, Phila-
delphia, graduated from Wyoming
Seminary and from the University
of Pennsylvania.
He is maried to the former Carol
O’Connorr of Collinsville, Ct. The
couple resides in Philadelphia.
MARINE PFC. ROBERT K.
OLEY, son of Martin and Isabell
Oley of 45 Maple Drive, Oak Hill,
Dallas, has been promoted to his
present rank while serving at
Marine Barracks Norfolk, Va.

The 12-week course trained
selected college graduates to apply
communicative skills, professional
knowledge, leadership and manage-
ment to take positions of responsi-
bility.
Sorrells will now be assigned at
Pennsylvania State University in
University Park.
He is a 1982 graduate of Kutztown
State College.

PVT. CHRISTOPHER J. HALL,
son of Joseph P. and Margaret K.
Hall of 92 Perrin Ave., Shavertown,
has completed one station unit
training (OSUT) at the U.S. Army
Infantry School, Fort Benning, Ga.
OSUT is a 12-week period which
combines basic combat training and
advanced individual training.
The training included weapons
qualifications, squad tactics, patrol-
ling, landmine warfare, field com-
munications and combat operations.
Completion of this course qualifies
the soldier as a light-weapons infan-
tryman and as an indirect-fire crew-
man.
Soldiers were taught to perform
any of the duties in a rifle or mortar
squad.

PFC. JOHN C. COULTON, son of
Frank H. and Anne M. Coulton of
Rural Route 1, Harveys Lake, has
completed training as an Army
military police specialist under the
one station unit training (OSUT)
program at Fort McClellan, Ala.
OSUT is a 13-week period which
combines basic training with
advanced individual training.
Students were trained in civil and
military law, traffic control, map
reading and self-defense.

THOMAS JOSEPH BOYLE, RD 1,
Dallas received a degree at the
115th annual commencement cere-
monies held recently at Lebanon
Valley College.
Thomas who graduated with a
B.A. in psychology, is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. T. Joseph Boyle, Dallas.
He served as senior class vice
president and was an intramural
captain and a member of Kappa
Lambda Sigma fraternity and the
football and lacrosse teams.

AIRMAN JOHN P. MCENTEE,
son of Mr. and Mrs. William F.
McEntee of Rural Route 4, Dallas,
has graduated from the U.S. Air
Force aircraft maintenance course
at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.
During the course, students were
taught aircraft maintenance funda-
mentals to repair and service one-
and two-engine jet aircraft. Mainte-
nance management and documenta-
tion was also taught to assess air-
craft readiness capability.

Miss Akers received. a Bachelor of
Penna. secondary school teaching
certification in social studies. While
attending Dickinson she was
Psi Chi, the national psychology
honor society. In her junior yar, she
received the Wilbur Harrington and
Helen Burns Norcross prize for
‘‘excellence in psychology”.
Miss Akers graduated from
Dallas High School in 1980. She is

Mr. and Mrs. D. James Veras, of
Old Field Road, Shavertown, was
among seven Luzerne County stu-
dents who received juris doctor
degrees recently from The Dickin-
son School of Law.
