Airman Leo G. Thomas, son of
Joan Z. Thomas of 160 Summit
Ave., Summit, N.J., and grandson
of John A. Roskos of 127 W. Mount
Airy Road, Shavertown, has been
assigned to Lowry Air Force Base,
Colo., after completing Air Force
basic training.
During the six weeks of Lackland
Air Force Base, Texas, the airman
studied the Air Force mission, orga-
nization and customs and received
special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete
basic trainign earn credits toward
an associate degree in applie sci-
ence through the Community
Colelge of the Air Force.

Center opens
The Dallas Recreation Center
opened for the 1984 summer season
on June 11. The center will be open
for its 10-weem season Monday
through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8
p.m. :
The staff consists of Marisa Bolin-
ski, Chris Dombek, Amy O’Donnell
and Sheri Ciccarelli, under the
direction of Jay Pope. The staff
plans to continue its busy program-
ming schedule for the children
which includes arts and crafts every
Thursday morning from 10 a.m. to
11:30 a.m., Western Nite on Thurs-
day, June 21, library trips, daily
group game hours and a program in
basic First Aid.
The grounds offer basketball,
tennis courts, game fields, soda and
other snacks for children and adults
alike. Eveyone is welcome to come
and join in the activities and pro-
grams.
Children under five years of age
must by accompanied by an adult at
all times.

missioned a Coast Guard ensign and
received a Bachelor of Science

and Mrs. Donald E. Getz of 61
Church St., Dallas, received a Bach-
elor of Science Degre in Mechanical
Engineering recently from. Lafay-
ette College.
A 1980 graduate of Dallas High
School, Getz was vice president of
the Theta Delta Chi Fraternity at
Lafayette. He was also the 1981
recipient of Luken’s Steel Scholar-
ship, a member of the American
Society of Mechanical Enginers and
a member of the varsity football
team.
Getz plans to work as an engineer
in the marketing division of Penn-
sylvania Power and Light Company.

ceremonies, weapons, map reading,
tactics, military courtesy, military
justice, first aid, and Army history
and traditions.
He is a 1983 graduate of Dallas
Senior High School.
