Miller, Registered Music Therapist, was recently appointed to the position of Music Director at The Shavertown UM Church. He is a graduate of Duquesne University’s School of Music, Pittsburgh, where he was a pupil of Anne Laboursky Steele, Professor of Sacred Music and head of the Music Department at Duquesne. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and Sacred Music. While attending Duquesne Univer- sity, Miller served as Music Consul- tant-Organist for the Episcopal Dio- cese of Pittsburgh in the Anglican Seminary Program under the super- vision of The Reverend Dr. Donald Keyes. He has previously directed music programs at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Pittsburgh; St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Mountain- top; and St. Gabriel’s Roman Catho- lic Church, Hazleton. Miller is a native of Northeastern Pennsylvania and has served the above churches over a period of 13 years. Currently he resides in Kingston, and serves as the Program Director of United Cerebral Palsy of Luzerne County, Wilkes-Barre. Miller has extensive training and experience in the use of ‘“‘orff’’ instruments within educational and therapeutic set- tings. ‘In the position of Music Director at the Shavertown UM Church, he will be working with The Reverend James A. A brief report of the year’s activi- ties and the dreams of things to come for the Wyoming Valley Coun- cil of Churches were given by the Executive Director, The Rev. Anita J. Ambrose. - The Bookstore Personnel were honored for their years of devoted and unselfish service given to Christ and the Wyoming Valley Council of Churches. Those honored were: Mrs. Lil Roberts, Mrs. Betty Sittner and Mrs. Ruth Gavenus, former Bookstore Managers. Two other managers unable to be at the dinner meeting were: Mrs. Margaret Shafer and Mrs. Lou Ferguson. The Rev. Andrew Pillarella and the Rev. Anita J. Ambrose honored, the Book- store Personnel. The Sisters of Mercy in Guyana Guyana run St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Georgetown, the capital city. Other apostolates include teaching at Stella Maris School, St. Joseph High School, and the University of Guyana; caring for orphans at St. John Bosco Orphanage, and pas- toral ministry.
