The Lake-Lehman boys’ volleyball team saw
its 25-match winning streak come to an end last
Tuesday when it went down to defeat at the
hands of Wyoming Valley West in the PIAA
District: 2 championship game. The Spartans
won the match, 15-13, 11-15, and 15-10, and will
now compete in the PIAA tournament scheduled
for April 27 and 28 at Shippensburg State
University. ;
Valley West took an early 3-0 lead in the first

game, but the Black Knights bounced back to tie
the score. With the score then knotted at 9-all,
Valley West served five straight points and a
violation against Lehman on a free ball gave the
Spartans their first-game victory.
In the second game, Lake-Lehman’s Mike
Stash, who finished the game with six points,
had five of those points early in the match,
putting the Back Mountain boys on top, 8-4.

Dallas girls
defeat Sem
The Dallas girls romped for a
five-run rally in the fifth inning and
defeated Wyoming Seminary, 14-7,
last week.
Entering the fifth frame tied at 5-
5, the Dallas girls were led by Lori
Handley who went three for four
from the plate and scored three
runs.
Sheri Ciccarelli and Jill Radzinski
banged out back to back doubles in
the Lady Mountaineers’ victory.
LEHMAN 11, SETON 0
Cindy Slocum banged out a home-
run in the third ining and the Lake-
Lehman girls went on to take an 11-
0 shutout over Seton Catholic.
Lehman, 4-0, enjoyed a seven-run
rally in that third inning, sending 12
batters to the plate. Also in that
inning, Pam Solinski cracked a
bases-loaded triple, driving home
Kelly Wandel, Christie Wascalus
and Gail Austin.
Jill Solinski and Beth Finn shared
the pitching duties with Solinski
grabbing the win. 5
LL season opens
Frank Joyce, president of Back
Mt. Baseball, has announced that
the season will offially begin on
April 28, with ceremonies beginning
at 8:30 a.m. at the Little League
Complex.

The Harveys Lake Bassmasters
held their Fourth Annual Youth
Trout Derby on Saturday, the first
day of trout season. The day was
chilly with a few showers, but
despite the weather the youngsters
managed to bring in a record catch.
Of the 400 plus youngsters entered
in the derby, 130 weighted in fish for
a total weight 322 lbs. Winners in
each age group received prizes and
trophies. Winners are as follows:
11 and under — 1st, Allen Morrow,
Harveys Lake; 2nd, Matt Kopicki,
Edwardsville; 3rd, Glen Carr,
Wilkes-Barre; 4th David Fisher,
Shavertown; 5th Stephanie
Andrasko, Shavertown; 6th Nicole
Sennett, Harveys Lake; 7th John
Paul Lipicki, Edwardsville; 8th
Howie Whipple, Harveys Lake; 9th
Ray Toney, Kingston; 10th Bobby
Sims, Harveys Lake.
12 - 15 — 1st Gene Faulls, Harveys
Lake; 2nd Judd Kopicki, Edwards-

The Lowrance Lunker Award
went to Bobby Adams of Trucksville
with a 2 Ib. 6 oz. fish. This is a
yearly award with a trophy donated
by the Lowrance Electronics Co.

strating the latest computer graphs
and flasher units throughout the
day. ;
Local area businessmen donated
many prizes to the winners in each
age group to further insure that the
event was a success. They were the

were served by the Bassmasters at
the weigh-in. The hot dogs were

soda was donated by Andy Roan.

Potato Chips.
A special thanks to Boscov’s, the
Bait Box and Abu-Garcia - whose
donations made it possible to give
every youngster a prize even if they
didn’t catch fish. (Note: over 200

The Back Mountain Youth Soccer
Association will hold registration for
this year’s soccer program on Saf-
urday, April 28, from 11 a.m. to 3
p.m. at Kennedy Lounge of Merrick
Hall on the campus of College Mis-
ericordia. :
Registration is open to all boys.
and girls ages 6 to 15, age as of
December 31, 1984. The cost is
$15.00 for the first child, $13.00 for
the second, and $10.00 for each of
the others in the family.” All first
year players are requested to attend
registration wearing sneakers to
participate in a 10 minute introduc-
tion to soccer program. The start of
the season will again be in August.
At registration, parents will be
able to volunteer for various soccer
program support activities includ-
ing coaching, refereeing, linemen,
parents advisory committee,
grounds keeping, etc. Parents and
any other interested individuals are
requested to sign up at registration.
BMYSA will provide training for
coaches, referees and linemen
through summer clinics.
All players will receive a uniform
to keep. In addition, soccer balls
and other equipment will be on sale
at registration. g
