BILL DOWNS
Bill Downs is
team captain
Bill Downs has been named cap-
tain of the 1984 King’s College
tennis team, according to Coach
Bill Eydler. He is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. William Downs, Hunts-
ville, and is a junior majoring in
business administration and mar-
keting.
Downs was a member of the
Lake-Lehman team for four years
prior to enrolling at King’s.
After a fine 1983 season, he was
named the Most Improved Player
in Wyoming Valley by ‘Tennis”
magazine. In 1983, along with part-
ner Mark Smith, he was named
Most Valuable Player in both
King’s College invitational tourna-
ments. Over the past two seasons,
he has a record of 27-15 in singles
and 23-17 in doubles.
He said he is proud to serve as
team captain under Coach Eydler
and feels optimistic about the
spring season.
King’s, which was 12-4 a year
ago, will take on 24 foes and ‘will
play in three tournaments this
year.
One of the newcomers to the slate
will have the Monarchs visiting the
