As part of its observance of
(March 18-24), the Mercy Hospital
Wellness Center sponsored a tour of
the recently opened Mercy Medical
Office, Dallas, for the children’s
group from the Trucksville United
Methodist Church. The tour was
designed to introduce the children
to the medical atmosphere and

Dr. James J. Pallante, academic
dean at College Misericordia,
recently announced the appoint
ment of Mary Carden as director of
the college’s cooperative education
program.
Founded at Misericordia in 1982,
cooperative education is available
to qualified students in all aca-
demic disciplines. Students earn
elective credit directly appplicable
to their degrees while working in
local businesses.
A faculty member at College
Misericordia for 17 years, Mrs.
Carden will be responsible for plac-
ing students in work situations and
contacting prospective placement
clients throughout Pennsylvania
and neighboring states. Fifty Mis-
ericordia students are involved in
the co-op program this year.
In 1980, Mrs. Carden was
appointed director for the merchan-
dising program at Misericordia and
will continue to sevice in that
capactiy. She has been assistant
professor in the division of business
administration for 12 years.
A graduate of College Misericor-
dia, Mrs. Carden received her
bachelor of science degree in 1962
and earned her master of arts from
New York University School of
Retailing in 1970.
She is an active member of the
American Association of University
Professors, the American Home
Economics Association, the Penn-
sylvania Home Economics Associa-
tion and the Association of College
Professors of Textiles and Clothing.
Mrs. Carden lives with her hus-
band, Frank, and their four chil-
dren in Inkerman.

practice of three local physicians
as well as laboratory, radiology
and physical therapy services.
