super guys.”
Meanwhile, Rocky worked his
way into the finals by ripping his
first opponent: 36-5, which so hap-
pens to be the most points ever
scored in an EWL. tourney bout. In
the semis, he topped Pitt’s Kyle
Nellis, 12-1.
Now it was the finals. Rocky was
going up against Cleveland State’s
Dan Foldesy, who was one win
away from capturing his third title.
He was a freshman winner at 118,
runner-up as a sophomore at 126 in
1981, red-shirted in 1982, then beat
All-American Scott Lynch of Penn
State last year. For his effort,
Foldesy was voted the tourney’s
standing Wrestler.
ocky was up to the challenge. He
set the tempo early by taking Fol-
desy down with a slick move. Fol-
osy escaped and took Rock down,
Rock got out for one and the
t period ended 3-3. Foldesy had
ten Rock in the recent dual, 6-4.
