Joseph “Red” Jones, president, will preside. Drives On Friday, Feb. 10, the American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive at the Sheraton- Crossgates Hotel located at 20 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre. The February blood drive is sponsored with the Wilkes-Barre Center City Blood Council. Council members noted that the previous drive was not as suc- cessful as hoped, missing their goal by some 20 pints. That makes it essential for the Red Cross to make its quota for their February drive. Blood collected at the Crossgates between 9:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. will be taken to the Red Cross laboratory in Wilkes-Barre where it will be broken down products such as plasma for burn and shock victims, red cells for surgical patients or platelets for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Appointments for the blood drive may be scheduled by calling 822- 6173.
