An April wedding is planned.
Dr. William Duke has been
appointed interim pastor of the
Dallas Baptist Church on Rt. 415 at
Idetown. Duke is the director of the
Northeast Baptist Association. Prior
to coming to Northeastern Pennsyl-
vania, he served as Director of an
association in Kentucky.
A graduate of the University of
Oklahoma, Duke received his Mas-
ters Degree from Golden Gate Bap-
tist Seminary and his PhD. from
Southern Baptist Seminary.
Duke previously pastored two
churches in California and served
five years in the U.S. Navy.
Katie, his wife, is Director of
* Libraries at Community Medical
Center, in Scranton. The couple has
three sons.
Services will be conducted by
Duke on Sunday mornings at 11
a.m. and 7 p.m. and on Wednesday
evenings at 7 p.m. Sunday School
services are at 9:45 a.m. and
Church Training Union is on Sunday
evenings at 6 p.m.
BROWNIE TROOP 651 recently
visited the Wilkes-Barre campus of
Penn State, Lehman. The Lehman-
Jackson Elementary School troop
visited the historic Hayfield House
and the computer
library where
they received a
demonstration on
how microproces-
sors work

DALLAS JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
was recently awarded second-place
honors by the Economic Develop-
ment Council of Northeastern Penn-
sylvania in its Pocono Northeast
Awards for innovative educational
programs. Dallas Junior High
School Drug and Alcohol curricu-
lum, ‘“‘Here’s Looking at You, Too”
won the award.
‘“Here’s Looking at You, Too” is a
program designed to help students
deal with peer pressure. This pro-
gram, which is also a part of the
elementary curriculum, is designed
to build a child’s self esteem.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Spaciano, 91 Shag-
bark Dr., Shavertown, who cele-
brated ‘their 64th Wedding anniver-
sary last week.
The Spacianos were married Jan.
7, 1920 in Holy Rosary Church,
Wilkes-Barre by the late Rev. Luigi
Cecere. Helen Zapp, Kingston and
John Bucoli, Pittsburgh were
Mrs. Spaciano is the former Mary
Madio, daughter of the late Ann and
Luigi Madio, Geneva, N.Y.
Mr. Spaciano was born in Rome,
Italy, son of the late Josephine and
Vincent Spaciano.
Mrs. Spaciano' is retired from
Natona Mills while Mr. Spaciano is
retired’ from Wilkes-Barre Transit
Company.
The Spacianos are parents of six
children, Louis and Victor, Trucks-
ville; Vincent, Levittown; Mrs.
Peter Skameritz, Berwick; Anna,
Harrisburg; Mrs. John Kucavich,
Conn., deceased. They have 10
grandchilfen and six great-grand-
children.
A family dinner was held to cele-
brate the happy, occasion.

THE WORLD-RENOWNED
ALARD QUARTET of Pa. State
University Performed an evening of
chamber music in Hayfield House
on the Penn State Lehman campus.
The former mansion, festively deco-
rated, provided the backdrop for the
matchless performance of quartets
of Beethoven and Saint Saens and
an Italian serenade by Hugo Wolff.
Members of the Alard Quartet are
cellist Leonard Feldman, violinist
Raymond Page, violinists Donald
Hopkins and Joanne Zagst. The
quartet has been performing
together for 27 years.
The Alard is one of a distin-
guished line of quartets to emerge
from the Juliard School of Music.
Since 1962 it has been Quartet-in-
Residence at Penn State. With its
repertoire unsurpassed in the field
of chamber music, the Alard has
quartets of the century.
