a | Courses “THE NEW LITERACY” is a three-credit telecourse which reflects the trend toward a more practical approach in introductory computer courses. Luzerne County Community Col- lege will offer this telecourse during the Spring Semester, over WVIA- TV, Channel 44, on Sundays, from 7 to 8 a.m., beginning Jan. 29 through April 22. The telecourse is an up-to-date survey of electronic data process- ing, computer hardware and soft- ware systems, and developments ‘that will provide the basis for fur- ther advancements in information processing. The course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the computer - what it is, what it can and cannot do, how it operates, and how it may be instructed to solve problems. Channel 44, is a principles of sociol- ogy course that offers the student clues to understanding the myriad of sociological events of our time. The telecourse will be offered on Tuesdays, from 7 to 7:30 a.m., and will begin on Jan. 24. Successful completion of the course will award three credits. The workshop, which will be held BARONS at the LCCC Programmed Study Center, will be offered on Tuesday, Jan. 3; Wednesday, Jan. 4; and Thursday, Jan. 5; from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost for the three-session workshop is $45 per person which includes all materials, handouts, and the book on the SAT.
