‘CLASS DALE L. BOICE, son of
Elmer G. and Alberta L. Boice of
Route 1, Noxen, recently partici-
pated in Operation Urgent Fury on
Grenada. training cycle.
He is a crewmember aboard the -0-
amphibious assault ship USS Guam,
home ported in Norfolk, Va.
Urgent Fury was a joint operation
of the United Stats and the Organi-
zation of Eastern Caribbean States
to rescue American citizens, restore
order and protect lives and property
on Grenada as well as encourage in
the formation of a democratic gov-
ernment on the island.

completed basic training at Fort
Dix, N.J.
During the training, students
instruction in drill and
ceremonies, weapons, map reading,
tactics, military courtesy, military
justice, first aid, and Army history
and traditions.
She is a 1982 graduate of Dallas

SAUL MENDELSSOHN of Dallas,
is the 1983-84 chairperson of the
Alumni Admission Committee in
Dallas for Franklin and Marshall
As chairperson, he is working
with other F&M alumni to provide
information and advice to talented
secondary students who are inter-
ested in attending a small, private,
coeducational liberal arts college
such as Franklin and Marshall.
More than 600 F&M graduates
nationally are involved in the effort
this year.
F&M, founded in 1787, is well
known for preparing students for
schools.
Mendelssohn, who lives at RD 3,
Box 298, Dallas is a physician, with
Renal Associates, 5658 W. Linden
St., Wilkes-Barre.

AUSTIN, son of Kenneth L. and
the Marine Corps Recruit Depot,
Parris Island.
During the 11-week training cycle,
he learned the basics of battlefield

typical daily routine that he will
experience during his enlistment
and studied the personal and profes-
sional standards traditionally exhib-
ited by Marines.

SUSAN LUKSIC, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John Luksic, Overbrook
Avenue, Dallas is sporting a cast on
her foot these days. Susan was
walking near the library when the
accident occurred, causing her to
break her foot. We hear that Susie
is getting around pretty well despite
her cast. Hope you are feeling
better real soon, Susie!

MR. AND MRS. CHARLES DIS-
SINGER FLACK, JR., RD 5, Shav-
ertown recently celebrated the
christening of their son, Charles
Dissinger Flack III. The infant was
christened by Rev. John S. Prater
on Thanksgiving morning at his
home.
Charles’ godparents are Mrs.
Walter T. Armstrong, Jr., sister of
Mrs. Flack and Harold E. Flack II,”
brother of Mr. Flack.
A small group of family and
friends attended the ceremony.
Maternal grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. James E. Stine, of West-
town. Mrs. Charles D. Flack, Shav-
ertown and the late Charles D.
Flack are paternal grandparents.
Paternal great-grandparents are
Sen. and Mrs. Harold E. Flack,
Dallas.
Charles Dissinger was born Aug.
16 in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital.

THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF
WILKES-BARRE is planning an
interesting project which will be
ready for viewing in the spring.
The League is featuring a decora-
tor’s show house on Sutton Road,
Shavertown. The home, with 20
rooms, and an outside area, will be
on display from Sunday, April 29 to
Sunday, May 20. Each decorated
area will have a specific theme with
the areas displaying each designers’
expertise and creativity. Tickets
will be available from any Junior
League member. Proceeds will be
used for community service.

PING-PONG TOURNAMENT on
Penn State’s Wilkes-Barre campus
are Mike Bernick, first-place singles
winner; Gary Solomon, second-
place singles winner. Awards also
went to doubles winners Mike Ber-
nick and Rulison Evans, and to
second-place winners Michael Boy-
czak and Doug Solomon.
