Wrap-around styles and clothes which are easy to fasten are often preferred. Kitchen items - Preparing food for only oneself or a spouse can take the fun out of cooking. Physical fitness - Many older per- sons are concerned about their “health and want to stay in the best physical condition possible. Pedom- eters to measure distance walked, light weights and special exercise books are very good gift items for active seniors. Devices to monitor blood pressure and similar health related items make unusual, but welcome gifts for many. Security items - Smoke detectors, security alarms, timers for both indoor and outdoor lights, dead bolts for doors and other items which promote secutiry and safety can help ease concerns which trouble numerous senior citizens. Safety devices - For older persons who are frail or experiencing cer- tain physical problems, gifts such as safety bars for the bathroom, shower stools, telephone amplifiers and magnifying glasses can be extremely useful.
