Musical
program
scheduled
A public program of seasonal
music will be presented by the band
and chorus of Dallas Junior High on
Thursday evening, Dec. 8, at 7:30
p.m. in the Junior High auditorium.
There is no charge for this initial
program of the musical organiza-
tions.
Performing will be the Seventh-
Eighth Grade Concert Band, the
Junior High Chorus, and the Boys
Chorus under the direction of Reese
E. Pelton and Florence Sherwood of
the music staff. Several solo and
ensemble selections are included.
Among offerings of the Chorus
will be the familiar setting of “The
Night Before Christmas’, while the
Band will include an arrangement
of the “Waltz of the Flowers’ from
the Nutcracker Suite. Approxi-
mately 150 students will be in the
performing groups.
Three members of the Band par-
ticipated in the second annual
Junior High Honors Band for North-
eastern Pennsylvania at Marywood
College, Scranton, on Dec. 3. Matt
Quinn, trumpet, Laura Dover, trom-
bone, and Billy Cooper, baritone,
were among selected students in
grades seven through nine chosen
for an event that parallels senior
high District Bands. All are eighth
grade band students.
Nello A. Riccetti, Executive
Director, Luzerne Intermediate Unit
18, announces that full scholarships
to the Pennsylvania Governor’s
School for the Arts summer 1984
sessions will be offered to artisti-
cally talented area students by the
Luzerne Intermediate Unit. High
school sophomores and juniors are
eligible to apply for the scholarships
which cover all expenses except
transportation to and from the pro-
gram.
To apply for the 1984 session, to
be held from July 8 to Aug. 11,
students should obtain an applica-
tion brochure from their guidance
counselor or arts teacher. Applica-
tions are available now, to give
students time to prepare their mate-
rials over the holidays. Application

Financial aid
program set
The Dallas Senior High School
Guidance Department announces a
program concerning financial aid
for all students planning to continue
their education beyond high school,
and for their parents. This program
is scheduled for Monday evening,
Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. in the high school
cafeteria.
Mrs. Patricia Russin, Counselor
Coordinator, will moderate the pro-
gram which includes the following:
Dr. Peter Yasenchek, Regional
Director of the Pennsylvania Higher
Education Assistance Agency
(PHEAA), who will discuss State
Grant and Loan Programs.
Mr. Michael Shevock, Senior
Counselor, who will speak on the
Family Financial Aid Form, the
Family Financial Statement, local
and national scholarships.
