Karate students Aaaah, take that! Week in review Miller injured RD 1, Box 505, Dallas, sustained back injuries in a one-car crash on Upper Demunds Road in Dallas on Nov. 22. Miller was reportedly traveling east when he lost control of the 1979 Datsun he was driving. The vehicle rolled over on the east side of the road before coming to rest on its wheels. Miller was taken to Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston, where he was treated and released. He was alone in the car and no charges have been filed in connection with the accident. Dallas man killed Charles R. Reynolds, 23, of New- berry Estates, Dallas; and his brother, Horace Britton Reynolds III, 29, of Renovo, Clinton County, were both killed Nov. 23 in a one-car accident near Renovo. Charles Reynolds, a chef at the Magee Publick House restaurant at Newberry Estates, Dallas, was driv- ing when the accident occurred at about 10:15 p.m. Charles Reynolds, born in Dun- kirk, N.Y., was a graduate of Cen- — tral Columbia Area High School, Bloomsburg, and the American Culintary Institute. He had lived in the Dallas area for one year and have been employed at the Magee Dallas Post/Ed Campbell ing at the Dallas restaurant. Two admitted to bar Among 25 lawyers admitted to the Luzerne County Bar Association in ceremonies lat week were Stephen J. Fireoved, of 2 Birch Hill Lane, Dallas; and Eugene D. Sperazza, of RD 7, Hilltop Acres, Shavertown. Fireoved is a graduate of Gettys- burg College and the Temple Uni- versity School of Law. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy for three years. Sperazza is a graduate of the University of Scranton and received a Master’s Degree from Marywood College in Scranton. He received his law degree from the Temple Uni- versity School of Law and served as a teaching assistant for Temple’s Trial Advocacy Program. Taxes are lowered Kingston Township supervisors announced they will lower the 1984 property tax rate from seven mills to five mills. The announcement was made at a special budget meet- ing held Nov. 23. The supervisors were able to fower the: rate because the town- ship’s one percent earned income tax will generate more money in 1984 as the result of the rising incomes of township residents. Half the proceeds of that tax go to the Dallas School District. Supervisors will hold one more meeting to vote on the budget a second time. Skating, anyone? John Molski, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Molski and a student at the Dallas Town- ship Elementary School, may look like he’s ice-skating. But, actually John is show- ing his fellow classmates some smooth moves he learned in karate class. Dallas Post/Ed Campbell Drew Fitch of Dallas has been elected president of the Dallas Lions Club for the upcoming year. Fitch has been a member of the Dallas Lions Club since 1977 and has served on the board of directors, as treasurer for two years and as first vice-president. He is also a repre- sentative of the District Lions to the Eye Bank. Fitch is an officer in the plumbing and heating company of R.N. Fitch and Sons and resides with his wife Dorris and three sons D.J., Dale and Dean. The Dallas School Board voted Nov. 25 to fire John Gabriel, the school distriet’s building and after 11 hearings held since Septem- * The board voted 8-1 to fire Gabriel, with Patricia Gregory cast- ing the single no-vote. Gregory, who sought re-election to the board, was defeated in this month’s General Election and will not be returning to the board following its Dec. 5 reor- ganization meeting. In a resolution dated Sept. 13, the board charged Gabriel with incom- petency and neglect of organiza- tional and supervisory duties and voted on that same day to notify him of its intentions to dismiss him, pending outcome of the hearings. Hearings for Gabriel began on Sept. 15 and he remained at his position of building and grounds supervisors through 11 such meet- ings.
