Payment approved Payment of more than $75,000 on contracts for a new sewage process- ing system and a building to house it were approved Nov. 10 by the Dallas Area Municipal Authority (DAMA). The authority also denied a *request by Sterling Construction co. for another $36,999 for work on the building. It was believed the firm had not completed enough work on the building to justify the payment. The board had originally agreed to pay the firm $30,000. Schools evacuated Approximately 2,900 students in the Dallas School District were evacuated from five school build- ings on Nov. 8 when a young male caller phoned in a bomb threat. The call was received at the high school switchboard at 12:13 p.m. but the youth did not say in which school a bomb had been planted. All schools in the district were then evacuated. Charges filed Three charges, including Driving Under The Influence, have been lodged against an unlicensed driver who allegedly hit two other automo- biles at the intersection of Route 415 and Route 118 in Dallas. Gerold Sgroi, 25, of 54%.» Krych St., Kingston was arrested at the scene of the accident by Dallas Township Patrolman Clark Van Orden. Police report that Sgroi was entering 415 southbound from Route Valley which was stopped to make a Sgroi then continued south and struck an approaching vehicle driven by Edward M. Sidelko of 865 Miller Street, Luzerne. Sgroi was charged with Driving Under The Influence, Driving With- out A License and Failure To Halt At A Stop Sign. The Stop Sign charge was supported by a witness who alleged that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, turned the corner on two wheels without halting at the intersection, hit the first vehicle and bounced off it to strike the second car. A hearing for Sgroi on the charges is scheduled for Nov. 21 before District Magistrate Earl Gregory. Runaway found | A 15-year-old runaway from New Hampshire was picked up and returned home after having been involved in a hit and run accident in ' Trucksville. Police Chief Paul Sabol reported the youth, who was driving a red GODINSKI and white Mazda GMC, hit anoth vehicle driven by Joseph P. Gircom- etti, RD 7, Shavertown on Green Road and then fled the scene. Police spread the alarm and broadcast a description of the vehi- cle. The juvenile was subsequently picked up on Church Road by Dallas Township Police. Bonanza robbed A burglary at the new Bonanza Steak House on Route 309 in Dallas is under investigation by Dallas Borough Police. They are being assisted by fingerprint experts from the Pennsylvania State Police. The restaurant was entered through the roof by moving vents with police reporting an estimated $1,000 stolen from the office.
