Barre will present a workshop titled
‘‘Communication Assertiveness:
Say What You Mean and Mean
What You Say’’ on Wednesday, Nov.
2, 8:30 am. to 4 pm. at the
Sheraton Crossgates, Public Square,
Wilkes-Barre.
The program is designed for per-
sons who want to increase their
effectiveness, especially when con-
fronted with difficult, or “no win”
situations.
The $65 fee covers the cost of
instruction, program materials,
lunch and beverage breaks. Partici-
pants receive 0.6 C.E.U.s and a

THE AMERICAN HEART ASSO-
CIATION, Northeastern Pennsyl-
vania Region, will sponsor a CPR
Basic Cardiac Life Support Course,
on Nov. 9, 16 and 23, three consecu-
tive Wednesdays, from 7 to 10 p.m.
at the Good Shepherd Lutheran
Church, corner of South and South
Main Sts., Wilkes-Barre.
A $5.00 fee is incurred to help
defray costs. Those individuals
interested in attending are asked to

NESBITT MEMORIAL HOSPI-
TAL will conduct a special health
fair on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 11
a.m. to 4 p.m. in conjunction with
the hospital auxiliary’s Holiday Fair
in the Medical Arts Building, 534
Wyoming Ave., Kingston.
Under the direction of Anita
Waznia, director of hospitalwide
education, the program will feature
free blood pressure and diabetes-
cholesterol screenings. Pulmonary
function tests will also be adminis-
tered. A number of relevant health
information brochures will be avail-
able along with the Vial of Life.
LEADER NURSING CENTERS
of Kingston are offering a free
Blood Pressure Clinic at the Dallas
Senior Citizens Center, College Mis-
ericordia, on Thursday, Nov. 10,
beginning at 1 p.m. The public is
invited to attend.
THE NOXEN UNITED METHOD-
IST WOMEN will hold their Annual
Turkey Dinner and Bazaar on Nov.
5. Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Adults, $4.75, children 12 years and
under $2.25.
THE ELLA MOORE CLASS of the
East Dallas United Methodist
Church will sponsor a Fall Bazaar
on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 10 to 4 in
the church social room.
There will be handcrafted Christ-
mas items, baked goods and white
elephant table. Refreshments will
also be available.

THE REGULAR MONTHLY
MEETING of the Lake-Lehman
Board of School Directors will be
held on the third Tuesday of the
Ymonth, Nov. 15, instead of the
second Tuesday of the month, due to
Election Day. The November 15
meeting will be held at 8:30 p.m. in
the gymnasium of the Lake-Lehman
Junior High School.
