the Penn State Wilkes-Barre
Campus on Friday, Oct. 28, 12 noon,
in the Science Center auditorium on
the Lehman campus. The program
is open to the public free of charge.
The free performance is
presented by the Office of Student
Affairs at Penn State Wilkes-Barre
and is partially funded by a grant
from the Pennsylvania Council on
the Arts. It is co-sponsored by the
Back Mountain Cultural Center.

THE WYOMING VALLEY CHAP-
TER, AMERICAN RED CROSS has
scheduled three CPR courses during
November. Evening classes will
meet on Tuesdays, Nov. 1, 8 and 15
and Nov. 15, 22 and 29, from 7 to 10
p.m. An all day class will meet on
Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 9 am. to 5
p.m. These classes will be held at
156 S. Franklin St. To register, call
Safety Services at 823-7161.
DALLAS UNITED METHODIST
WOMEN will hold their rummage
sale on Thursday and Friday, Nov.
3 and 4, at the church on Church
Street, Dallas. Time is 9 to 5 with
bag day on Friday. A snack bar will
be held both days.
Shirley Goode is chairperson for
the rummage sale and Hazel Garris
is in charge of the snack bar.

be having an all day fall festival
Saturday, Oct. 29 beginning at 11
a.m. until 7 p.m. Lunch from 11-1
p.m. $2.00. A smorgasbord dinner
from 4-7 p.m. featuring many tasty
food items. $4.50 adults, under 12,
$2.50, pre school free
A RUMMAGE SALE will be held
in the basement of the Alderson
Methodist Church, Harveys Lake. A
bake sale will be held Nov. 5,
beginning at 10 a.m.
The sales are sponsored by the
United Methodist Women.

The menu will include beef, pork
and ham bar-b-ques, pea soup,
homemade pie, ice cream and bev-

THE DALLAS CHAPTER OF
UNICO will sponsor a Spaghetti
Dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 26, from
5 to 8 p.m. at the Dallas Junior High
School. Take-outs are available.
Tickets, at a cost of $4 for adults
and $3 for children, may be pur-
chased from any UNICO member or
at the Dallas Finance Co., Lake St.,
Dallas.
Proceeds from the dinner will be
donated to the Back Mountain Little
League Athletic Fund.
The four-week program is spon-
sored by the education and dietary
departments under the direction of
Mary Stoneham, R.N., patient edu-
cation coordinator, and Mary Jones,
R.D., chief dietician.
Sponsored by the Wyoming
County Cancer Society, the clinic
will offer oral, rectal, breast and
pap examinations. The Rural Health
Corporation of Northeastern Penn-
sylvania is furnishing the facilities
and staff for this screening.

PROPER DIET IS A MAIN

weight control program. Nesbitt
Memorial Hospital is preparing a
calorie-controlled chicken dinner
designed to demonstrate that eating
can be enjoyable as well as benefi-
cial to your weight control.
This special dinner, the final ses-
sion of the hospital’s lecture series
on weight control, will be held on
Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. in the
hospital’s dining room. Community
residents are welcome to attend.
Cost is $3.50 and reservations are
required. Reservations can be made
