The special scholarship program was created 19 years ago by F&M to aid students from small to medium- sized high schoois in Pennsylvania, especially those located in rural areas, to study at Franklin and Marshall, a 1,975 student, private, coeducational, liberal arts college in Lancaster. Ronald D. Potier, F&M’s admis- sions director, said Lake-Lehman High School is one of 240 Pennsyl- vania secondary schools cooperat- ing with Franklin and Marshall in recommending students for Com- monwealth Scholarships. Seniors at the local school, who are interested in attending a small, high quality, competitive college such as Frank- lin and Marshall are advised to discuss the scholarship program with their guidance counselors or principal. Potier said the amount of scholar- ship aid each students receives as a Commonwealth Scholar is based upon individual need, which can vary from a few hundred dollars to more than $7,000. Most Commonwealth Scholars at F&M also hold state grants awarded under the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency. 13 Dorchester Dr.; John P. Stepa- bose, 123 N.
