Rybak. Tim Grove will be back and so will “A dropped touchdown pass and missing two extrapoints - that’s what killed us,” said Lake-Lehman grid coach Mark Kirk after his Knights’ 21-20 loss to the Meyers Mohawks last Friday. “We didn’t make the right plays to stop Meyers near the end of the game. We knew what they planned to do, but our boys made too many mental mistakes. We would have won if we had played good football in the first half. 2 “Our kickoff in the final minutes of the game hurt us. Our specialty team consists of all young players and they make too many mistakes. The Mohawks took the ball and ran it back more than 25 yards to their 45 yard line. We need to make some changes on our specialty teams.” The Knights contained the Mohawks fast-running back Dwayne Harrison fairly well despite his chalking up 135 yrds. Most of that yardage was gained in about three long runs and Harrison accounted for two of Meyers TD's. “He’s a good back,” said Kirk. “‘We couldn’t get him when it counted.” “The girls did a fine job this past week,”’ said Dallas girls field hockey coach Robyn Jones. ‘They won all three games to make it four consecutive wins and turn the season around. “They’re finally scoring in the circle and rushing the ball in the cage. Christi Strauser and Jill Rad- zinski did the scoring for us last week. We moved Strauser from the line to forward and Radzinski from the right side to the left side. We also moved Leslie Billman and Amy Aston to link positions. It’s made a big difference. “Our defense was outstanding this past week. Susan King, right half- back was moved to that position from forward, and has been doing a great job. Karen Wall was terrific as goal keeper. In the Coughlin game she had eight saves and kept them scoreless. “This week we have GAR and have the potential to win in any game. There is only one team unde- feated to date, that’s Crestwood.” The Lady Mounts defeated Tunk- hannock, 3-2, Friday afternoon paced by Cristi Strauser’s two goals and Jill Radzinski’s goal which proved to be the winning point. o(o].\H FOR THE COLD WEATHER NAD J.E.T. ‘COAL co. Peters made his third point for the day to give the Mohawks the 21-20 win. “We have two weeks off before we meet Crestwood,” said Kirk. ‘The layoff will help us. The kids need the rest and it will give us time to teach them some new techniques. We plan to do some intensive teach- ing during that time. “Our kids are doing a great job. They’re young and ' inexperienced but for a small school they are very competitive. Many people fail to realize we have only about 400 students in the senior high. “All the boys are working hard and John Williams, Jeff Martin and Chris Wargo have been turning in some fine performances. Four of our next five games are with Divi- sion AA schools. Only Nanticoke is triple A but they’ll all be tough.” — CHARLOT M. DENMON minutes into second half play. They played more aggressively and played more offense instead of defense,” commented Lake-Lehman girls field hockey coach Jean John- son Lipski. The girls won two games and tied Nanticoke during the week and in doing so had 77 shots on goal, “I’m very happy with their play- ing,” said Coach Lipski. “They are greatly improved and they are working together as a team. I'm happy to see that. “Susan Bonsavage is doing an Solinski is playing very well. She has come a long way. Joan Skopic is now playingwing and adjusting very well. I would say she is the most improved player on the team.” The Lady Knights shut out Bishop O’Reilly 3-0, Friday, paced by Kim Fey who scored two goals to lead Lake-Lehman in their win.
