Dallas grid coach Ron Rybak was
well pleased with the way his Moun-
taineers played against Bishop
Hoban last Saturday afternoon at
the Dallas stadium as they trounced
the Argents, 40-7.
“They executed their plays much
better than they have since the
opening of the season,” said Rybak.
“They have a few things we have to
improve such as our kickoff. We
need to work on covering it right.
Our offense moved the ball well and
our defense played as it did when
we scrimmaged in pre-season play.
It appears our defense is beginning
to come back to where it should be.
The line also was much improved in
Saturday’s game.
“Mike Borton played another
great game on both offense and
the offense very well..
“If we want to beat GAR, the kids
will have to play the same type of
game. They will have to be men-
tally alert and execute well. I saw
GAR play against Valley West and
they did a good job of moving the
ball. They play the basic GAR type
game. They’ll drive the ball right at
us to move it down the field.
“Our kids are in good shape
physically but they are going to
have to be up mentally for the

“The Warriors were a lot bigger
than we expected,’’ said Knight grid
coach Mark Kirk following his
team’s 30-7 loss to Wyoming Area.
“We didn’t play well at all. The
kids made more mistakes in
the past three together. We had a
lot of penalties, especially offsides,
and in the beginning of the game
the kids dropped passes andfumbled
and the Warriors were successful in
recovering them.
“This week our coaching staff will
make some minor changes and we’ll
hope these changes will help in our
game coming up with Meyers. That

should be a good game. The two
teams dress about the same number
of players and should be more
comparable.
“We will have to stop Dwayne
Harrison. He is fast coming out of
the backfield. We'll have to hit
harder and more often than we did
against Wyoming. If we don’t, we
won’t win. There can’t be any more
excuses about playing tough Triple
A schools.” *
The Knights netted only 130 yards
for the entire game with the War-
riors but were able to put one score
on the board when they recovered
Scott Nicholson's fumble in the
second half and paced by QB John
Williams and receiver Chris Wargo
moved it 41 yards. Jeff Martin took
it over for the score.

© “We have three tough games this
week, all with triple A schools,”
said Dallas girls field hockey coach
Robyn Jones. “We play Wyoming
Valley West at home the first of the
week, then travel to Coughlin and
come home Friday to play Tunkhan-
nock in a make-up game.
“My girls are improving with
each game but they have to become
more aggressive. They have to real-
ize they are in a tough, highly
competitive league this season,
there are no ‘‘easy to defeat”
Lehman hockey
teams. I hope we can win all three
games this week. If we do we can
be right in the race for the title.”
The Lady Mountaineers played
two games last week winning one
and losing one.
They were shut out 2-0 by a strong
Crestwood team led by Diane Madl
and Renee Schwartz. Each of these
girls scored a goal for the Comettes,
Diane assisting Renee and Renee
returning the favor by assisting
Diane.
Wednesday’s match with Tunk-
hannock was rescheduled due to
inclement weather but on Friday,
Dallas girls nipped Bishop O'Reilly
2-1It was Jill Radzinski assisted by
Cristy Strauser who put the Lady
Mountaineers on the board first
with a goal in the first half. O'Reilly
scored in the first half to tie it up at
1-1.
In the second half Amy Aston
scored for Dallas unassisted.
“The girls showed improvement
over the previous week,” said
Coach Jones, ‘‘But they are not
playing up to their potential. If they
get their scoring attack together
this week we can surprise a few of
our opponents. They have to play
thing they have not done the past
two or three games.”

nary, but the important thing is that
I am very pleased with the way the
girls played last week,” said Lake-

In the match with GAR, Coach
Lipski played all of her girls. Even
the jayvees got in and saw varsity
action. Kim Fey scored all of the
goals against the Grenadiers and
was outstanding on offense.
Despite losing the Seminary game
1-0, Coach Lipski was pleased with
the way the girls played.
