    Dinner planned
The Ladies Aid of St. John Nepomucene Church, Miller St.,
Outing held
The Luzerne Social Club held its Sixth Annual Member and
Guest Outing recently at the Allo Pines in.Jackson Twp. with
approximately 75 people in attendance. Co-chairmen Walt
Evanoski and Frank Lutz did a great job in, handling the food
while refreshments were handled by President Ed Bugdonov-
itch and Secretary Al Hunter. Officers of the club are
Burgdonovitch, president; Walt Evanoski, vice president; Frank
Lutz, treasurer; Al Hunter, secretary. The club meets at Mary
Leay’s on Vaughn St., Luzerne. The club has been active for
many years and is beneficial to the Little League, children of
Fr. Edward
Luzerne, Courtdale and Pringle and they have several other
projects, such as childrens’ outing and childrens’ Christmas

Polcha is
honored
Msgr. Michael C. Polcha’s jubilee
celebration was held recently with a
Mass of Thanksgiving at Holy Trin-
ity Church in Swoyersville.
Former parishioners or assistants
at Holy Trinity Parish served as
con-celebrants at the liturgy.
Among those in attendance were
Msgr. Michael Harvan; Rev. Clem- .
ent Podskoch, C.S.C., Rev. Robert
Gardzalla; Rev. Edward Liptock,
Rev. Andrew Strish, Rev. Anthony
Urban, Rev. James Fedor, Rev.
Michel Litchek and Rev. Vincent
Grimalia.
Rev. Joseph Ziobro, assistant
pastor at Holy Trinity, served as
master of ceremonies, Mr. Edward
served. as lectors with Mrs. Helen
Savinski as leader of song and
Raymond Podskoch, George Tom-
chak, Mark Saxon and Daniel Petty,
servers.
The choir consisted of the Singing
of Luzerne and Holy Trinity Young
People’s Choir offered several selec-
tions. Miss Mary Bonnie Wilce
accompanied the groups at the
organ.
The Knights of Columbus,
Assumpta Council No. 3987 served
as honor guards in the church. The
homily was preached by Rev. Clem-
ent Podskoch, C.S.C., a parish
priest and now chaplain at the State
Correctional Institution; Dallas. The
Most Reverend James C. Timlin,
auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of
Scranton was seated in the sanc-
tuary
Approximately 475 priests, sisters,
family members, parishioners and
friends honored Msgr. Polcha at a
banquet at Gus Genetti’s Motor Inn
in Wilkes-Barre. Toastmaster for
the affair was Joseph Wroblewski of -
Forty Fort, a parishioner of Holy
Trinity and second vice-president,
Lions International. Rev. Joseph
Ziobro gave the welcome address.
Invocation was said by Msgr.
Joseph Super, Pastor, St. John the
Baptist Church in Pittston.
John Husovsky, chairman of the
Jubilee celebration and president of
the Holy Name Society was parish
spokesman and presented monsi-
gnor with a gift from the parish.
Main speaker at the program was
Msgr. Michael Harvan, a classmate
of Msgr. Polcha and now pastor of
St. Cyril & Methodius church in
Edwardsville. Remarks were made
by ‘Msgr. Polcha followed by Bene-
diction by Msgr. John Balberchak.
Music for dancing followed the
Jubilee program by the Henry
Charles Orchestra. *
Rev. Joseph Ziobro served as
honorary chairman for the affair.
Mrs. Madeleine. Barush was co-
chairman. Mrs. Mary Wilce served
as secretary; Mrs. Mary Chipego,
treasurer; Mrs. Fran Krajnak and
Mrs. Carol Matinus handled the
publicity while Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Lipinski and Mr. Donald Wilce were
in charge of the ads for the program
book. Mr. Andrew Lawrence and
Mrs. Michael Basar were ticket
chairmen and Mrs. Elizabeth
Lukesh and Mrs. Susan Stofko han-
dled the reception affair.

surgical patient at the Robert
Packer Hospital in Sayre. All of his

Women plan
bake sale
The Confraternity of Christian
Mothers of St. Mary's ‘Czetochowa
Church of Swoyersville, made plans
for its fall bake sale to be held on
Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2
after all masses, with Mary
Szczucki as chairperson.
Sophie Miscavage, president, asks
all members to meet in the church
hall on Oct. 1 at 8 a.m. to help bake
bread and pies and members are
asked to bring their baked good to
the hall early on Saturday.
The Christian Mothers will hold
their Communion Breakfast on Oct.
9 after the 8 a.m. Mass and also
