Scouts plan
School Night
Trucksville Cub Pack 155 will hold
its school night at the Westmoreland
School on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 7
p.m. Pack 155 will offer the Tiger
't Cub Program to boys who are seven
years old. Other boys who are eight
years of age or have completed the
second grade may join the Cub
Scouts. All boys must have a parent
¢ with them to register.
Mercy Week
Drasnin honored
Daniel Poorman, Principal of
Dallas Senior High School, and
Frank Galicki, Assistant Principal,
announce the name of Mark Dras-
nin, a senior at Dallas Senior” High
School, as being one of 15,000 stu-
dents selected as a National Merit
Semi-Finalist.
Mark qualified as a semi-finalist
on the basis of his outstanding
performance on the 1982 PSAT test.
some 18,000 secondary schools
entered the competition last fall by
taking the PSAT test in their junior
year.
PSU plans course
Penn State-Wilkes-Barre’s Office
of Continuing Education will present
a workshop entitled ‘Fundamentals
of Data Processing for Managers”
p.m. at the Sheraton-Crossgates,
Wilkes-Barre.
The program is designed for
supervisory, managerial and staff
personnel who desire practical
information on the best way to
utilize a computer system. Also,
support personnel who are or will
use an on-line computer system to
handle information will benefit from
the program.
David W. Staples, senior consul-
tant of Sarig Business Systems,
Inc., workshop leader, will explain
data-processing concepts and their
use in the business environment. He
will cover the fundamentals of com-
puters, hardware, software, termi-
nology, procedures, controls, and
systems design.
The fee of $90 covers the cost of
instruction, program materials,
lunch, and beverage breaks. Partic-
ipants in this workshop will receive
0.6 C.E.U.s and a certificate. For

Mark will now fulfill requirements
established by the National Merit
Scholarship Program in order to
advance to finalist standing before
receiving consideration for a Merit
Scholarship. In 1984 some 5,300
Merit Scholarship will be awarded.
Mark is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
David Drasnin, 22 Kingswood Drive,
Dallas. Mr. Drasnin is employed by
Prudential-Bache. Mrs. Drasnin is a
teacher at College Misericordia.
Mark has been an excellent stu-
dent at Dallas Senior High main-
taining a 3.7 cumulative average, is
ranked in the top fifth of the senior
class and is a member of the
National Honor Society. He has also
received numerous academic
awards such as the NEDT Certifi-
cate of Achievement in grades 7, 8,
9 and 10 and the English and
Science Awards in grades 10 and 11.
Mark has participated in soccer for
three years, has been a member of
the cross-country team for two
years as well as track team for
three years.
Mark plans to attend college
majoring in Physics.

College Misericordia joins other
organizations throughout the coun-
try in celebrating Mercy Week,
Sept. 18-24. The College is just one
of many institutions sponsored by
The Religious Sisters of mercy,
founded in 1831 by Catherine
McAuley in Dublin, Ireland.
In celebration of Mercy Week,
College Misericordia has scheduled
many events to which the public is
invited.
A rock Mass will be held Wednes-
day, Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. in Merrick
Hall.
On Thursday, the Bloodmobile
will be at, Merrick Hall from 10:15
a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The College Miser-
icordia Nursing Club will sponsor a
health fair at the same time.
Saturday, Sept. 24, at 8:30 p.m.

Two workshops for registered
nurses will be presented by Penn
State’s Department of Nursing, Col-
lege of Human Development, at the
PSU Worthington Seranton Campus
in Dunmore.
The first workship, ‘‘Agency-Wide
Quality Assurance,” will be held on
Thursday, Sept. 22, and will trace
the historical development and
social faetors influencing quality
assurance.
The second workshop, ‘Quality
Assurance in Nursing on the Unit
Level,” on Tuesday, Oct. 4, will
apply quality assessment concepts
to systems and services at the unit
level.

Family Medicine. The office is

Dr. Boonin is a graduate of
the Pennsylvania State Univer-
sity, and received his medical
degree from Hahnemann Medi-
cal College, Philadelphia. He
completed a three-year resi-
dency with Wyoming Valley
Family Practice Program in

health commitment at Rural
Health Corporation, Noxen, PA.

associated with Dallas Family
