Auxiliary gathers
Mrs. Abram Nesbitt, 2nd recently hosted a luncheon for members of the
Nesbitt Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Executive Board. The luncheon was
held at the Nesbitt residence at Lake Catalpa in Dallas. Following the
luncheon, Mrs. Miriam Tomasetti, incoming auxiliary president, conducted
the business meeting of the executive board. Executive board officers for
the new fiscal year also include Mrs. Doris Coutts, president-elect; Mrs.
Bette Roarty, first vice president; Miss Dorothy Hessler, secretary; Miss
Ruth Wilson, treasurer; Miss Cindi Roberts, assistant secretary-treasurer.

Serniak named
to college post
Cynthia Serniak, Plains, has been appointed JuniorAc-
countant in the Comptroller’s Office at College Miseri-
cordia, it was announced by Joseph R. Fink, President.
Ms. Serniak is a cum laude graduate of College
Misericordia with a bachelor’s degree in business fix
administration. She worked in the Comptroller's Office
during her senior year as part of a work-study program.
In her new Job, Ms. Serniak processes College
Misericordia’s payroll and works with National Direct
Student Loans.
She is the daughter of Andrew Serniak of Plains.
PG&W sets program
Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company is offering a
fund-raising program to all non-profit church, civic and
fraternal organizations in the Greater Wyoming Valley
area. The program will begin this fall. According to
Company Spokesman, Richard Santee, PG&W will
furnish all materials and equipment necessary for non-
profit organizations to bake 120 dozen cookies. The
company has established a flat sale price on the cookies
of $1.00 per dozen.
“With all materials being donated including the use of
our gas kitchens in our Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and
Williamsport showrooms, each organization stands to
make $120 for their investment in the time it will take
them to make the cookies’’, Santee said. He added that
organizations will be able to make Welsh cookies and
coconut chews; two favorites from a similar PG&W
program aimed at helping non-profit organizations more
than a decade ago.
Cookie bake sales dates are being booked now for
clubs and organizations. In the Scranton area, customer 4
information representative Frances Wynne, is accepting @®
inquiries. Ruth Marmo; Wynne’s counterpart in the
Wilkes-Barre area will schedule club bookings for ®
organizations from throughout the greater Luzerne
County area. In Lycoming County, marketing represent-
ative Dave Columbine is coordinating club bookings for
the cookie bake sales.
Santee added that the popularity of the free fund-
raising program is such that organizatons wishing to
participate must be scheduled on a first-come first-

Society plans auction
Many fine antique items will be auctioned at the
Seventh Annual Auction sponsored by the members and
friends of the Wyoming Historical and Geological
Society.
The auction will feature new and used items donated
by members and local business people. The event will
be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Swetland Homestead
Grounds in Wyomng. Wayne Weaver will be the
auctioneer.
A Marketplace, Book Fair and baked goods booth will
also be featured.
Refreshments will be made available by the Irem
Stewards’ Snack Wagon and the Hillside Ice Cream van.
Anyone who wishes to donate anything to the auction
may contact the Wyoming Historical and Geological
Society at 823-6244.
