many, many collectibles such as an
antique knick-knack collection, old
framed pictures, solid brass items,
ample seating available under a
tent.
As in past years, the Festival will
include delicious homecooked
PENNDOT CREWS completed
the initial phase of repairs to West
Eighth Street last week with the
laying of asphalt on a three mile-
plus stretch from Bodle Road to the
village of Orange. Final phase of
the work - oiling and spreading of
fine cinders - was expected to get
underway this week. The improve-
ment was welcomed by motorists,
who travel the route to and from
Wilkes-Barre.

Eighth Street, Carverton, is a
patient in Nesbitt Memorial Hospi-
tal, Kingston, having been admitted

panies in the area. On Monday
evenings, the recently organized
Northmoreland Twp. Volunteer
Fire Company holds its bingo par-
ties in its new hall in Centermore-
land with an early bird special at
6:30; Wednesday evenings, Frank-
lin Twp. Volunteer Fire Company
holds its weekly benefit bingo par-
ties in the fire hall in Orange, and
on Friday evenings, the Falls Twp.
Volunteer Fire Company holds its
benefit social parties in the fire hall
at Falls, starting with an early bird
special at 6:45.

body’s Birthday Party’ on
Tuesday, July 12. Approxi-
mately 50 children from
ages four through 13 joined
in the fun. Relays, team
events and skill games
were played, followed by
snacks and a giant birth-
day cake. The children
exchanged birthday gifts
formed by professional
magicians, Cosmic Louie
and Faye from Scranton.
The second bi-weekly
library trip to the Back
Mountain Library was
held July 14. Approxi-
mately 30 children hiked to
the library and stopped for
a picnic lunch before
returning to the center.
A Fire Engine Demon-
stration was conducted by
